Last night and into the early morning, a new wave of strikes hit military and industrial targets across Ukraine, while Russian air defenses intercepted Ukrainian drones near Moscow and other regions. One of the most intense attacks targeted the city of Dnipro, where ballistic missiles struck a key defense plant in the morning.
On the morning of June 24th, the Air Force of Ukraine reported the alleged interception of 78 out of 97 drones launched by Russia overnight. The drones were deployed from multiple directions, including Kursk, Crimea, and Russia’s Krasnodar region. According to Ukrainian officials, 63 drones were shot down by air defenses, while 15 were disabled by electronic warfare. Despite these efforts, Russian drones and missiles destroyed numerous intended targets across the country.
Over the past day alone, Russian strikes were recorded in:
- the DPR;
- Sumy;
- Kharkiv;
- Zaporozhie;
- Kherson;
- Odessa; Kyiv;
- Zhitomir;
- Poltava;
- Chernihiv regions.
At nigh a series of powerful explosions rocked the port town of Yuzhny in the southern Odessa region. According to local reports, at least ten strikes were recorded in the small town.
The most significant morning attack targeted the industrial city of Dnipro, where four Iskander ballistic missiles struck presumably the Yuzhmash (Pivdenmash) plant, a major missile and aerospace manufacturer. Footage showed large plumes of smoke rising from the facility, with Ukrainian sources initially attempting to downplay the strike by claiming a “train” was hit instead. Ukrainian media are blurring the destroyed plant filmed by civilians, claiming another fake attack on civilians:
Another series of strikes pounded the town of Kramatorsk.
In Kharkiv, Russian Geran drones struck an industrial site believed to be involved in drone production. Local officials avoided specifying the exact location, suggesting the target may have been embedded in a residential area. Additionally, Russian forces used guided bombs (FABs with UMPK kits) and “Molniya” drones to hit other facilities across the region.
On the Russian side, air defenses intercepted 20 Ukrainian drones overnight, including two near Moscow. 34 more UAVs were intercepted in the morning. At night, one drone crashed into a 17th-floor apartment in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, injuring a man and a pregnant woman.
The overnight strikes highlight the continued intensity of the conflict, with the Ukrainian side losing the standoff. While Ukraine struggles to defend against Russian drones and missiles, Russia faces persistent drone attacks on its border regions and major cities. As NATO debates future aid to Kyiv, the war shows no signs of de-escalation.
