The Armed Forces of Ukraine are still trying to advance on southern frontlines, while Kiev’s counteroffensive is widely regarded as doomed. After almost three months of bloody attacks, the Ukrainian military only captured several small villages in lowlands but were stuck unable to break through the first line of Russian defences.

The village of Rabotino located to the south of Orekhiv is currently the main target of Kiev’s offensive. After protracted fighting on the outskirts, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) managed to enter the village about a week ago. The Russians maintained positions in the center and on the southern outskirts.

On August 23, the Ukrainian military hoisted their flag on a destroyed building in the center. Russian sources confirmed that the AFU managed to advance in the village, but did not take full control of the settlement. Kiev’s plan to claim another victory on the Independence Day of Ukraine was thwarted.

Rabotino remains in the grey zone. According to various reports from the front, counter-fighting still continues on the southern outskirts, which prevents the Ukrainian military from gaining a foothold in the area.

The battle for Robotino reached its peak a few days ago, but without reaching any results, the AFU has recently reduced its attacks. On August 26, Russian military sources claimed that after several dozen small and large attacks, the Ukrainian military were forced to regroup in the region, some Ukrainian reconnaissance companies and battalions were partially withdrawn from the front due to loss of combat capability.

However, more large-scaled operations of the AFU are expected in the nearest future. The Ukrainian military is accumulating significant forces ner Orekhiv, preparing for the decisive attack. On August 24, the Russian military reportedly spotted up to 83 units of heavy military equipment moving in the area.

While battles foor Rabotino continue, the AFU attempt to bypass the stronhold and launch attacks on the Russian eastern flank in Verbovoe and to the west in Kopani. The Ukrainian military likely plan to break through Russian defences in the field areas between the Rabotino and Verbovoe in order to threaten the Russian groupings there with encirclement and forces them to retreat to straighten the frontlines.

Infantry of the 47th Separate Motorized Brigade of the AFU continues attacks in an attempt to push the Russian military out of Rabotino. Meanwhile, units of the 82nd Separate Assault Brigade trained in Germany and the 46th Separate Aeromobile Brigades intensify assault operations on the flanks. After heavy artillery shelling on Russian strongholds, the infantry units are breaking through, capturing new positions. Counting no losses, the AFU managed to slightly advance to the west of Verbovoe. All Ukrainian assault operations near Kopani failed.

The warring side are pulling reserves to the area, since heavy artillery duels require significant reserves. The Ukrainian military are pounding Russian strongholds with foreign cluster munitions, while are responding with massive shelling and destruction of Ukrainian howitzers. The trump card of the Russian military is still their dominance in the air. FAB-250/500 bombs with universal planning and correction modules are pounding the reserves of the AFU both in the immediate rear along the Rabotino – Verbovoye line, and on tactically important facilities of the Ukrainian reserve units in Novodanilovka, Malaya Tokmachka, Novopokrovka, Yurkovka and Tavriysky located at a distance of 25-30 km from the frontlines.

The Ukrainian military also deploy their aircraft in the area in very risky operations. On August 26, Ukrainian Su-25 was shot down near Rabotino.

Some tactical victories of the Ukrainian forces are far from any strategic gains on the southern frontlines. The target of the first stage of Ukrainian offensive is the town of Tokmak which is a strategically important road junction. Control of it would allow the AFU develop their offensive further, either to Melitopol or Berdyansk, and end the campaign by reaching the Crimea. However, the AFU are still fighting for small villages and they are yet to reach the main lines of Russian defences in the Zaporozhie and Kherson regions.

verím, že ruské vojská udržia svoje pozície. majú na to dostatok bojových skúseností a tak isto majú podporu letectva. to by im malo zaručiť prevahu. banderovské fašistické svine môžu i naďalej ryť svojimi rypákmi, do zeme na donbase!!!

you will probably get your wish but wouldn’t it be better if they just stayed in their sheds?

MotherTeresa

russian supply lines are obviously running really low. shortages everywhere. so much that because of no water, ru soldiers have already started drinking their own piss. very sad. watch it yourself. looks like they have watched “survival with bear grylls” intensively. http://rlu.ru/3uutk

uhhh i am not a fan of the russian government but in the raw materials game those guys kind of exposed that a west built on “service economies” is a crystal castle. the interdependence between nations and fragility of supply chains is the elephant in the room waging war like this. just hope it ends.

MotherTeresa

yes, russian soldiers drinking their own piss is of course much better ! you’re right. maybe you should tell it to the ukros and nato so that they might adapt this great russian independent technique.

many of the weapons aren’t reaching their destination but they will be used by terror elements in europe for years to come.

where did you read that nonsense about drinking urine instead of water? maybe in a magazine ”twist the tits”!? are you really that desperate to fall for this kind of nonsense!? or you are a 5 year old kid…

i am also looking forward to burning challenger tanks, lol. it would be nice if at least 1 challenger was put on display in moscow. perhaps a smashed-up challenger could be painted in ‘rainbow camouflage.
