As of the morning of September 8, the town of Balakleya which became the main direction of the Ukrainian attack in the Kharkov region is almost blockaded by Ukrainian fire but remains under Russian control. During the night there were two attempts to enter Balakleya from the western direction, but they were repelled by Russian forces.
North of Balakleya, the road leading to Volokhov Yar was cut by the AFU in several areas. The town of Volokhov Yar also came under Ukrainian control. Fighting along the highway continues.
Russian paratroopers, deployed to support the allied forces managed to repel numerous attacks on the village of Shevchenkovo. It is one of the key settlements used for supply of Russian main garrisons in the Kharkov region.
At the same time, the AFU are transferring reinforcements to the area preparing for new attacks on the roads and for the further offensive on Kupyansk. The local authorities declared evacuation of civilians from the Kupyansk district.
To the south of Balakleya, the AFU established control of the settlements of Bayrak and Krasnaya Gusarovka. They attempt to reach the road junctions near the settlements of Veseloye and Kunye in order to cut the supply roads to the Russian grouping in Izyum.
The Ukrainian offensive is ongoing amid the summit of the Kiev’s Western allies at the US air base in Ramstein in Germany. On September 8, Washington is expected to announce the supply of $675 million worth of weapons to the Ukrainian army. Kiev had to claim success in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the use of the foreign weapons. Ukrainian forces have fulfilled their minimum task.

Ukraine seized a decent chunk in the counter-offensive in the east but it’s not game changing by any stretch whatsoever, If Ukraine seized a shitload of territory like people here are exaggerating, the U.S. media would never let us hear the end of it, a huge chunk of the counter offensive was focused on taking Kherson back from Russia right? The fact that Russia to this day still controls it should tell you that the Ukraine counter-offensive was a failure and that Ukraine basically threw the kitchen sink at Russia in this conflict just to make any gains. The fact that Russia is STILL holding back amidst the conflict with Hundreds of thousands of active duty troops on standby that never participated in the initial invasion further corroborates this.

You are correct, the story wont say it but the claims made were that Putin is not conducting the war in a manner that defeats the UAF this is a threat to the Russian federation. In short they are asking for someone who will send in another 200k troops and get the job done. Its probably the only way they could go about it but its a popular opinion for sure.
If you think Russians didn’t know there was going to be an offensive, you are just sensationalists. When there was talk of a counter-offensive you could have asked yourself a series of simple questions. Why would they attack in the South which is the easiest for the Russians to defend? The only answer, diversion. So do they attack the Dombass front or the Kharkiv front after the diversion? Well obviously not heavily entrenched Donbas, but from their second largest city Kharkiv where they were free to move the equipment. And Russians knew this.
It is going to be interesting when the forces that heavily pushed into Kharkiv region get encircled or if Russia uses this extension to strike from Russian territory into northern directions again. I predict a helicopter swarm (proven effective in this war, and the overextended Ukrainian force likely only has light armor advancing not aa) if they are going to encircle the enemy, and if not then expect a subversive strike from RFAF.
And to top all of that, there is a reason why Russia is happy to sit behind right now. Winter is coming. And this is not your typical winter. I believe there will be an early winter this year that will last for 6 months, and its effect will be more devastating on Ukraine, just like it will be on the whole of Europe, since the food shortage, inflation and another engineered covid wave coming to keep the unhappy populace in homes and not rioting and toppling governments due to failing life standard and political violence. This type of defeat in this current Ukrainian offensive (which is still ongoing) in Kharkov region is the one that the whole world will be talking about and which (if not reversed) could lead to Russia loosing this war.
Trying to recapture these territories will be very difficult to say the least. There wasn’t even a serious fight over them. Ukraine has demonstrated that they know how to defend territories, Russia hasn’t demonstrated that.

I predicted this turn of events since months ago. It was obvious that Ukraine, with full mobilisation and benefiting from a much larger manpower, once it had enough advanced western weapon systems, would go on the ofenssive. They have high morale, they believe they are deffending their country, and thus have a high tolerance for casualties. Even if they would loose 2-3 times more soldiers than Russia, they would still go on. Russian forces may stabilise the front for a while, but if the war goes on, eventually Ukrainian army might push out Russian forces from much of the territory occupied since february and get to the outskirts of Crimeea. Conventional war is mathematics, side with most man, most determination, weapons and leadership always wins. Russia so farr had only advantage in weapons, but as western supplies pour in Ukraine, it will loose it.
There is another prediction, much more sober and grim. In maximum 9 months from now, in any case when Ukrainian army will be positioned to enter Crimeea, we will see usage of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia against targets in Ukraine. First usage in Europe, first usage in war since Hiroshima and Nagasaki but this time on military targets. No matter it will shock the whole world. NATO will not respond militarily to avoid WW3. Not many nukes will be used, a couple of them, enough to demoralize the Ukrainians and force a peace treaty of some sorts. They will probably give up Donbass, Crimeea and a good part of the Black Sea shore. There are, unfortunately, good arguments for this scenario and all seem to go into this direction. Its the only way Russia can realistically “win” the war, but price will be great, will transform the country in a pariah for generations to come. And the rift between Russians and Ukrainians will remain forever. .

Bullshit. NATO technical advisers and staff were the ones who chose, targeted and hit the Russian cruiser off coast. NATO staff using US satellite tracking, and target tracking and coordination from British AWACS electronic warfare aircraft. This is documented from records of the aircraft’s flight path shadowing the ship. It used its systems to guide a missile to the ship. That was a British military aircraft directly involved to make it happen. That is NATO directly attacking Russian military assets. Cost is not an issue, the west just prints money. If you look carefully Russia is adapting to the envelopes of these anti aircraft missiles and also the battlefield scenario is changing for Anti Tank missiles – there is less cover in an open battlefield with the terrain encountered in eastern Ukraine. Russia is now deploying decoys to suit every layer of Ukraine’s air defence systems. They are also getting valuable real world test and evaluation of western weapon systems, by generally offering the most minimal countermeasure. BTW these rotary decoys are very hard to spot with look down radars when they fly slow at low level, which is an added benefit. The ground has to engage them without that intelligence, and that gives away positions.

Russia will not regain this ground not next week, not a week after. Ukrainians are not that stupid to give these gains up after this easy capture. If Russia is to recapture these areas, they only have a day or two (before Ukraine is able to secure the area) to do it. NATO has successfully taught Ukraine how to defend territories and that’s what they are doing effectively in the Donbas and Kharkov areas for example. Did Russia get back Visokopolya in the South despite multiple attempts?
Well, the Russian special military operation is lead improperly. This should be the operation where Ukrainian capability to wage war should be destroyed first. But instead, railroads and roads which enabled the movement of AFU units were left intact, foreign weapons shipments continued to arrive across the border. For example in the Soviet operation in Afghanistan, the border with Pakistan was heavily reinforced, because most foreign mercenaries and weapons entered to Afghanistan there, but we saw no Russian intervention at the Western border of Ukraine.
This seems like s staged and phony war just to start another economic crisis, because Covid hysteria didn’t bring enough results.
