On July 1, unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the town of Talfita in the Western Qalamun region along the border with Lebanon.
According to opposition sources, the gunmen, who were armed with assault rifles, attacked the checkpoint in the early morning. The clashes lasted for a half hour. Eventually, the gunmen escaped.
As a result of the attack, a service member, identified as Hilal Ottoman, was killed and three others were wounded. One of the wounded service members is reportedly in a critical condition.

After the attack, the SAA and security forces dispatched large reinforcements to Talfita. Units of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which is active in Western Qalamun, also patrolled the region.
The Western Qalamun region was a stronghold of al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front, which is now known as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham. The SAA and Hezbollah liberated the region in a joint operation in 2013.
The Talfita attack was not the first operation against government forces near Lebanon’s border. In December of last year, a similar attack targeted a checkpoint of the army in the town of Rankos in the Eastern Qalamun Region. Within a few weeks after this, the perpetrators were eliminated in a special operation.

I believe Hezbollah will have to go on general mobilization soon to support the hard pressed SAA as the Americunts and Saudis are pouring in terrorist in the Damascus-Daraa region too.

The militia has defeated you pretenders once, in 2006, it’s twice the size it was then better armed, trained, and battle hardend. Without US military protection Israel won’t last 72 hours. Still nothing decisive, IDF is incapable of that, and it can’t sustain counter-measures against it’s military infrastructure. Bases, weapons storage, whatever war production. IDF air defense forces, are non-existent, Israel is vulnerable to attack from any direction. You know those S-300’s can reach out, and touch Tel-Aviv. Syria isn’t your biggest problem. Will US military be there in time to protect the stolen lands once you get your war ?

I haven’t been keeping count but it has to be at least the 50 or more Syrian Intelligence personnel that’ve been assassinated during the last few months, and I’m only referring to Syrian Intelligence personnel not regular SAA soldiers, if you added them all up there’d be several hundred assassinations in all. There’s been peace and stability in most of the southern governorates for 2 years now, 3 years in some areas, so why have things changed so drastically recently, what’s causing the locals to do a backflip on the reconciliation process. All the recent protests and assassinations can be traced back to one contributing factor, and if you look hard enough you can find out why the reconciliation process is now shattering the way it is.
