On September 17, an unidentified warplane carried out an airstrike on an empty field near the town of Abu Khashab in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, which is held by the US-Backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The remains of what appears to be a Soviet-made cluster bomb were found at the scene of the strike. No casualties or material losses were reported.

A number of news sources from Deir Ezzor claimed that the airstrike was carried out by a Russia warplane or a drone. Some even suggested that the airstrike was carried out as a part of a test or an exercise.

These claims are yet to be confirmed. There has been no comment on the incident by the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the SDF or the US-led coalition.

The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) operates over northeastern Syrian, where hundreds of Russian troops are present, on a regular basis. However, it never carried out airstrikes on the SDF-held part of the region.

The situation in northeastern Syria remains unstable. The airstrikes may have been carried out by the VKS against cells of ISIS or other terrorist groups plotting an attack on Russian troops or other sides in the region.

LOL, I almost interpreted your message wrongly there.

A.H.

I see a non opened parachute and a cannister. Probably the cannister was delivering something to the terrorists.
