On February 19, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) confirmed the death of the traitor pilot Maxim Kuzmin, who hijacked a Mi-8 military helicopter from Russia to Ukraine.
The claim came after the reports by some suspicious Spanish media about the murder of “a Ukrainian man” in Alicante, in the city of La Villajoyosa on February 13. The corpse of a man whom the Spanish media referred to simply as a “citizen of Ukraine”.
The victim was 33 years old, although Kuzminov was 28.
The first to link the death of the “33-year-old Ukrainian” and the 28-year-old Kuzminov was the fake Spanish Il Corrispondente created in 2023. Kuzminov was reportedly shot with 12 bullets and then run over by a car. His neighbors claimed that “the foreigner behaved inappropriately, often shouted”.
The incident was also reported by telegram channel Eureka news, which soon deleted the news for some reason.
The Ukrainian media largely shared the story of Kuzminov’s alleged death and published new details reported by the GUR of Ukraine.
Ukrainska Pravda, which is the main media used by Ukrainian services, cited the report by the GUR. Ukrainian services confirmed that the defector decided to move to Spain instead of staying in Ukraine.
“From what we know: he invited his ex to his place and was found shot dead,” the GUR reported.
The media also reported that a burnt-out car was found nearby, in which those who committed the murder could escape.

However, there is no official confirmation of Kuzminov’s death by Spanish law enforcement agencies. The Spanish Civil Guard did not confirm the information about the murder of the defector Kuzminov in response to the request of Russian media. So far, there is no real evidence of the murder of the traitor, only articles from dubious sources and statements by Ukrainian intelligence.
Taking into account the mismatches in reports, suspicious media background and the leading role of the Ukrainian GUR in the media campaign, it should not be excluded that Kiev may be carrying out another media operation against Russia. It is highly likely, that Putin may soon be blamed for ”assassination of another democracy-lover”.

After landing in Ukraine, other crew members refused to surrender and they were shot dead by Ukrainian special forces or by Kuzminov himself. As it is always happens to traitors, Kuzminov played his role in Ukraine and was no more necessary to the Kiev regime. Only his death (or at least reports about his death) may bring some political benefits to Kiev. It is also possible that Ukrainian services attempt to hide the traitor, assuring the public of his death.
