Syria: Coast on Fire

This was yesterday’s voiceover for Southfront.

I haven’t commented on the situation in the Middle East – especially Syria and Israel much recently. Suffice to say, things are progressing as I predicted they would on Substack— there is no stop to the horror.

Israel is not honoring its various ceasefires. Not in Lebanon. Not in Gaza. Not in Syria.

Of course, it knows that the primary guarantor of these so-called “ceasefires” –the US– guarantees nothing, making a mockery of the whole idea of such agreements – and of course of its own role in peacemaking.

What does “guarantee” mean to the US? Trump says so many contradictory things— that at some point people will stop listening — or at least taking him seriously.

In the case of Syria, I had expected Israel to carve out a buffer zone in the south, which it would later populate with reluctant Druze to give the impression of ethnic tolerance – and later populate with Israeli settlers / soldiers. (In Israel everyone is a soldier).

This zone will provide a staging ground for adventures in other areas, including Iraq and Iran, which mean that both must use this time to prepare.

As for HTS, the Israelis know they are Salafist zealots—unlike the Gazans, Hezbollah and Yemeni. But Israel is fine with zealotry. After all, it is a nation of extremists themselves

Right now, Joulani’s forces are a mixture of ex-Al Qaeda, ex-ISIS, Chechen and Uighur terrorists and other fun people.

Joulani has hanged his style—the CIA has really great stylists— they do your hair, beard, and color coordinate tie and suit — which is why Larry Johnson had to leave. It was those shirts of his!

But style and substance are two different things.

Joulani now talks moderation and liberality— suggesting that the massacres are isolated instances of people out of control. Boys will be boys. He will create a Commission to investigate. How wonderfully American!

The Turks? Syria was initially their operation to be sure— but now that Assad is gone – they don’t care. They will leave things to the Americans and Israelis, who don’t care either. What’s a few hundred dead kids and their mothers? Or even a few thousand. Madeline Albright was fine with half a million.

The Western media are trying to downplay the massacres of the Alawites and others, partly because they include Christians,

Fortunately for the West, sites like SouthFront are largely banned in the West and on social media, Facebook for example which regularly scrubs my posts if I dare reference SF. .

Still, the truth will out.

The question is: “does anybody care”?

And if they pretend to care— that’s when the Blame Game begins.

In the West, Assad and the Russians will be blamed.

The Russians are now taking in refugees in their military bases on the Syrian coast –so obviously its their fault!

What happens next?

The Houthis have resumed operations against Israel and the West in the Red Sea, having restocked their weaponry.

As I said, Iran, the Axis of Resistance in Iraq and Hezbollah all have to prepare,

The western Media is saying the fall of Assad’s regime has weakened them all — but how exactly?. Rather, it has just brought war closer and the anti-Zionist coalition is building up its forces and reorganizing.

Hezbollah is partly held back by Lebanese politics.

But since the Lebanese government is technically responsible for the failed truce agreement with the US and Israel, it is on its way to being totally discredited and out of touch with its people

That gives Hezbollah time to rebuild its leadership, re-organize its organization and restock and resupply weapons. If push comes to shove, it will be ready.

Despite what the MSM says neither the Iraqi resistance nor Hezbollah are Iranian proxies—since they do not take orders from Teheran, just Iranian advice and weapons They too must prepare for what may unfold.

Iran has accelerated building up its military and solidifying its partnerships with Russia and China, conducting joint naval operations, and is reportedly considering buying either the Russian Su57 or the Chinese J20.

Nobody expects the US to get involved in a war— but Israel- that’s another matter. The Israelis are obviously itching for war. and the US has indicated that it doesn’t care.

Empires are won through war.

In the Middle East, Turkey dreams of an an empire. The US doesn’t need one because it owns the whole world. Israel hopes to fight for one.

In the meantime, the Syrian people suffer on as they have for so many years.
