Syria Diplomatic Front: New Macron's Claims, German Rejection To Particiapte In Attack And Other

Illustrative image

The OPCW investigations are yet to arrive the area of Douma where the chemical attack allegedly took place on April 7.

However, it looks that the US-led block has its own “independent mechanism of investigation” to prove the “bloody dictator” involvement in this incident.

France has already stated that they will respond to the chemical attack when they collect all the “proof”.

“We have proof that chemical weapons were used last week, at least chlorine, and that they were used by the regime of Bashar al-Assad,” the French President Emmanuel Macron said at the French TF1 channel.

French media has reported that Macron is claiming to respond “at a time of our choosing, when we judge it to be the most useful and the most effective”. However, during his interview the President stressed that he wanted to avoid “an escalation”:

“France will in no way allow an escalation or anything that would harm regional stability, but we cannot allow regimes that believe they can act with impunity to violate international law in the worst possible way.”

Germany is pointing its readiness to assist its allies, but without German military involvement the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported.

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated during the press conference: “Just doing nothing at all is also difficult”. However, Merkel stressed that Berlin supported the need to “send a clear signal that the use of chemical weapons” is unacceptable.

Then Merkel emphasized that if the US, the UK and France were to take military action, Germany would find non-military ways to help.

The Chancellor criticized Russian blocking of the full OPCW investigation into the alleged Syrian chemical weapons attack. She stressed that this measure “does not cast Russia in a positive light.”

Merkel has twice evaded the questions about the statements of the US President Donald Trump in Tweeter, whether this tweeter-style diplomacy made the situation more difficult.

Amid the US allies are keeping the support to respond to the alleged chemical attack, the US President Donald Trump has allegedly backpaddled with his tweeter-diplomacy.

Earlier Trump warned that “smart” missiles would be fired in response to an alleged chemical attack. Recently, he has tweeted that he “never said when”.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to investigate the alleged chemical weapon attack in Syria:

“We consider that amid the rabid anti Syrian campaign, conducted by Western countries, it is inadmissible to delay the OPCW inspection”.

The Russian MFA is concerned about the drawned resolutions on April 10. As these resolutions had been designed to pursue political goals:

“The stance of the Western “trio”, who are permanent members of the UN Security Council, is repelling us”.

“Another question has appeared. Do the US and its allies need any investigation at all? Obviously, no. This group “has set” the guilty in advance and it is allegedly not going to back pedal”.

Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russia and the US are using a “deconfliction” telephone line for Syria amid the growing tensions over the prospect of a US strike on Syria.

“The line exists and it is active. In general, the line is used by both sides,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

The harmful consequences of the US-led block stance are clear. The international security is threaten amid the open aggression in the escalating conflict. The “mysterious” “proof” and tweeter-diplomacy may just defer the “becoming” danger.

It’s time to hang or behead Sarkozy, Holland, Laurent Fabius, Bernard Henri Levy, Blair, Cameron, and so many others. The Spandau jail for Nuremberg convicted Nazis need to be rebuilt !

qveenz

No, too costly. Vlad the impaler, call al thieves of his country to a fiesta then he incinerate the entire party. Fast, clean and high precision.

Merijn

Impalement…thanks…forgot to put that one on me checklist….

NeoLeo

Beheading? No, no, no, we are not ISIS, let’s be civilized: burn them alive.

AlexanderAmproz

Alike Philip IV le Bel burning the Templar Knights in 1307….

None punishment will pay for what they did, but only God forgive, we aren’t God’s ! “Life Times” on a remote Island will do the Symbol tricks…

Nice dream- then you watch Putin’s man at the UN make a drunken pass at Nikki Haley, the main american hag who cheers jewish atrocities and calls for the extermination of Syri and Iran (footage online, google it- it happened as they entered the chamber before the latest debate at the UNSC). Imagine how the Syrian envoy felt watching the Russian kiss and paw and smile at the the one person calling for his murder, and that of every other member of the Syrian government. THAT is Putin’s ‘loyalty’.

Putin’s people- Trump’s people- all the same in reality and on the same side. Putin would sit to dinner a million times with Trump before he’d do the same with one of us. Any thought Putin was different vanished when Putin told America to slaughter the elite Russian irregulars in Syria, nad then told NATO to invade Syria via Turkey.

A day back Putin’s man in Israel told the jewish press that Putin stood with Israel, would always stand with Israel, and would see to it Iran was destroyed if Iran ever tried to respond to jewish atrocities against Iranian citizens.

CyricRenner

I was too busy watching the British Ambassador to the UN. Who is this woman and what the hell was she wearing?

Nod

“”THAT is Putin’s ‘loyalty’.” You blame Putin, for the actions of another…

You do this, based on speculation and assumption of what was going on between the two of those people. And then reflect on Putins loyalty.

lol, are you a fiction writer or something?

Here is what Putin knows….

“We’re going to take out seven countries in 5 years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran” –General Wesley Clark. Retired 4-star U.S. Army general, Supreme Allied Commander of NATO during the 1999 War on Yugoslavia . ———— “That is the phenomenon of the US. Since 1945 they’ve destroyed 73 countries and were directly involved in the deaths of 26 million people. It is a horror show. It just must stop!” John Shipton, journalist and executive officer of Wiki Leaks.

And he knows that Russia is also on that hit list.

“Putin’s man Putin’s man Putin’s man Putin’s man”

You dont have a clue what the Russian strategists and tacticians will do. Nor do I. And you blame Putin, for what YOU SAY his man did…

And please remember, Russians are not fluoridated stupid like North Americans are. Likely why our governments are always trying to catch up to Putin.

Same tired old WMD bullshit, time and time again. They are reverting to this, because otherwise they are always outplayed,

“ussian kiss and paw and smile at the the one person calling for his murder, and that of every other member of the Syrian government.”

that’s called foreign relations….

Nod

so all the globalists then

AlexanderAmproz

If implicated with “Mass Murdering”, Environment Ravages, Pollutions, or massive destruction for Ethnic Cleansing, they have to be urgently “Neutralized” !

Nod

we need to change the system that allowed the corruption. If we just start to hang people, others will just take their place.

AlexanderAmproz

In Facts my hometown ancestors found “Death Penalty” Barbaric, and abolished it in 1864. But other ancestors were following the Milleniums old “Roman Empire” rules “Dura Lex Sed Lex”

A RP 10.- Pesos Chocolate bar thief will get an difficult to understand 3 Years in the World worst jail, almost condemned to die by sickness. (Cebu convicts death percentage is higher than in the WW2 Japanese atrocious prisons…) Thomas Cretin is worst than General Tomoyuki Yamashita was…

Meanwhile Marcoses, Enrile, Sinsuat, Singson, Dumberte and al, or the Napoles list are stealing and Plundering by Billions. Killing by Thousands too, they are simply “Honored and Respected”

I was among the “J-Strings Spears, Bows and Arrows Manobos in Sultan Kudarat High Plateau when David Consunjii was killing daily 30 of them for Logging, Land-Grabbing and turning wonderful places into Moon Landscape, Landslides and Flood… Local Politicians, AFP, Constabulary supporting him…

Something is wrong, do “in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king” ?

qveenz

Chlorine? When the Mascaron use this against his people is chloride when is the SAA is using it is chloride. This tear gas, guys, simple tear gas and his DGSE agents aren’t able to admit that they were defeated like simple civil protestors. Cowards, what a shame at least some EU leaders started to act seriously.

Elisabeth Jenders

“the use of chemical weapons is unacceptable” – but what about white phosphorus and depleted uranium which the US-led coalition used in Syria and Iraq??? Look in the mirror to find the culprits!

Nod

for fact even. Wile the accusations against Assad are unproven.

Which countries actual have democracy. I know that Russia and Syria presidents are voted in by the people (demos), USA the popular vote can be overridden by college vote (so not a democracy), UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada? are a monarchy (i.e. not a democracy).

So which countries have democracies where the people vote in their leaders and government?

AlexanderAmproz

France is good, even extraordinary for literature

outsider

The French are as unstable as water.

Davki

In some ways, water is more stable than anything else. Do with it what you wont, it can’t be pressed into form, it will always go back to being itself… it’s the source of life, it’s the most abundant element on earth… it’s soothing yet stirringly emotional… good for the French to be like water…

Java Ape Timelord

Water is very stable. Water is one of the most powerful forces on earth. Water can push over walls, dams, buildings, ships, tanks. The study of hydraulics shows the power of water.

AlexanderAmproz

If you like water power, have a look at the impressive “Grande Dixence Dam” (Barrage de la Grande-Dixence)

https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/grande-dixence-dam.html

Val des Dix. … The Grande Dixence, the world’s highest gravity dam, collects melting water from 35 Valaisian glaciers in the region surrounding Zermatt and leading up to Val d’Hérens. … The first dam was built in Val des Dix as early as 1934. It is part of the Cleuson-Dixence Complex. With the primary purpose of hydroelectric power generation, the dam fuels four power stations, totaling the installed capacity to 2,069 MW, generating approximately 2,000 GWh annually, enough to power 400,000 Swiss households. The dam withholds Lac des Dix ( Lake Dix), …

AlexanderAmproz

I didn’t want to contradict you, either to be apologetic toward France. I do know well the French qualities and defaults to have been in almost every part of this Country so many times. A wonderful diversity Country, maybe alike none other Countries. North, South, East, West, Center, Alps, the Pyrenees, Atlantic, and Mediterranean Unstable, never noticed it, but a difficult Country to run(lol)

François

Well, well…Some French have guts too, dont’ be so general:) But YES, Macron is a barking poodle

Vitex

Plenty in France are aware of all the MSM BS.

j. jaxson

he might be a child molester.

Starlight

Macron is the puppet that stated those wanting laws against child rape in France were “anti-semitic”. This should come as no suprise since jew Roman Polanski, he who had Charles Manson dispose of an unwanted wife, fled to France from the USA after a CONVICTION for raping a 13-year old girl via drugs and an anal assault at the home of Jack Nicholson. France not only has no laws against child rape, it does not allow the extradition of jews who have raped a child to the USA.

Once In France the highest jews that controlled the film biz in the UK and France ensured Polanski carried on directing high profile movies. And this for a jewish monster whose guilt for child rape wasn’t even in question. Indeed once in France, Polanski frequently spoke of his love for raping little girls.

The list of jews who have been convicted of child rape and then allowed to CONTINUE working in Hollywood is endless. The list of non-jews is literally EMPTY. While rapists come from all communities, only jewish rapists suffer no consequence afterwards.

France, of course, was a willing and essential ALLY of nazi Germany during WW2. A MINORITY french government opposed the nazis, but the vast majority of french people were pro-nazi. As usual, when the war ended, the french pretended they had been on the winning side all along- and ‘proved’ this by treating some prostitues accused of sleeping with nazis in the most demonic way. That’s your “big french man”- beating up a woman to prove a lie about himself.

TravelAbout

And that sickening Levy was calling for Polanski to be forgiven.

Merijn

So Happy that I fuck off out of Europe soon…Hang the Total Establishment….those folks are sick…and the ones that voted for them just as Sick…you’ll have it comin’ bunch o’ AngloZioNazis….mister Macroni…I hope you’ll suffer Rothschild’s Bitch…you False Flaggot….

Yes Mr Macron, we have proof you are a former Rotshild’s Banker. Actually member of the French-American fundation that aims to choose “Young leaders” for French government on behalf of the US, and supervised by the same Rotshild. Yes we have the proof your not faithful, rather a miserable crawling creep.

octavian61

Just imagine if Germany joined in militarily. The Russians would flip! Operation Barbarossa all over again. Those old collective subconscious feelings will rise to the surface like a volcano. Smart for Merkel to lay low on this one.

Davki

“Doing nothing is also difficult”, Really, Frau Merkel, that’s what you’ve been ‘doing’ for years!

TravelAbout

Not if you count letting in immigrants to overrun your country. On that score she’s done wunderbar!

John

Pfffffft …………. a little live fire exercising and suddenly the bluster is off. Thank God.

Rodney Loder

I personally always say if they could have, they would have, if they haven’t they can’t, really Gadaffi was the ME turning point, Ukraine the European and the outcome of the Rwandan Christian Evangelical Genocide was the African turning point, if Trump tries it on he then faces certain impeachment.:

Allah is in control, Christians are a pox on Humans.

Kira Binkley

Allah may be in control, but humans still have a choice, Rodney. And humans may very well choose to self-destruct. Trump seems to want to. Or maybe he just listens to the wrong advisers.

Rodney Loder

Maybe Sarah Palin can replace him that will make the femenists happy, a better version of Hillary the old hag, I personally believe that Universal Destiny is one thing and our Species Being is another thing, individuals can’t cause our Species Being Destiny because even the culmination of (P) Abraham’s Religion wouldn’t incorporate individuals into a conglomerate representation, that is crazy.

So our destiny must be Telepathic Determination represented by myself since I invented Telepathic Expressionism, now !! allowing Universal Destiny, already a done deal, to be accepted because I’ve already taken care of it is eaisly understood after coming to terms with the fact that I am working diligently on our Species Being Destiny, I need help though, if you’re not doing anything more important I will try to ease a better Climate Change scenario into the future if you have got something to offer me that I want, can I have your critical measurements ?.

Kira Binkley

You can’t even have my critical mass, Silly! By Species Being Destiny, you probably mean our species was created with universal self-actualization in God/Allah’s mind, right?

Rodney Loder

OK Kira Binkley I’m sorry i asked, our love is a mental rapture of the deep, maybe in the after life mental becomes physical, I can’t wait, and would have to work on where Species Being comes from its used extensively in Philosophy here’s Hegel not using it, but showing where it comes from.

Nothing great is achieved in this world without passion. This irony ‘the cutting edge of the concept’ was a dialectic of inner and outer nature which echoed that of Self- Consciousness. As inner sloughed off the outer, the true nature of humanity emerged.”

So what we were, became our Species Being, it’s nothing to do with Allah, He’s watching being Appreciative and Entertained by His Witness, of course it could go horribly wrong, good çan never win outright, it must always be challenging bad or good would be in the eternal ascendency, and symbiosis would be disfunctional.

Then Fate would be everything again as the dominant premises of the paradoxical nothing.

Out destiny as Species Being may very well end this Universal Creation but because Fate and Allah have a specific common understanding in certain circumstances Allah’s Ambition for Universal Cognition is in safe hands, namely mine.

Kira Binkley

Symbiosis of what? Humans may just not be a good fit for this planet, as God said of the dinosaurs when he threw the asteroid at the earth. Don’t forget, though, the universe can exist without humans. You know, I don’t do philosophy well. And I’m still trying to figure out who got here first; you or me!

Kira Binkley

Love that “mental rapture of the deep.” When, did you say?

Rodney Loder

I don’t know who changed my avatar but who cares I’m really just trying to keep up with you Kira Binkley, I can only imagine just how worn out I would be if I spent 3 hours of every day easing your tensions, and now I find I have an invasive grass species that I have to deal with, but I guess that is ok the three hours a day I save with your not being near can be put to good use, wish you were here.

Kira Binkley

That puts me in mind of “staying power”, but perhaps I should stay away from that. A little naughty. Coplas! Cha-cha!

Rodney Loder

Coplas! Cha-Cha! was a dance tune correct ? Choo ChooChoo Chooboogie in Spanish right ? and there was Vamvoose Hosae is on his way, and fake it till you make it, I can tell by the sounds of it that you got staying power, I only hope you see that I’m a Gentleman.

Kira Binkley

You’ve been reading and listening, over my shoulder again. Hope you have a little of the “naughty” in you!

Rodney Loder

Funny that you should say it, because I just swiped your previous comment to me without reading it, try and think back what it was, I really want to know what the naughty thing I’ve done, – was good or bad ?, I won’t know till you tell me. Why do dolls despise descent gentleman, ? What’s involved with making-it for a woman, ? In the Cyber Space of weird tehntechno I can emerge wit an answer if you let me know what was in the post naughtiness deleted.

I’m in raptures wanting to know if it was as I suspect the woman wearing the Black Orchid.with lips, Oh ,! never mind.

Kira Binkley

1. I really think we may need to be married to discuss those things. Know a gentile and moderate Muslim cleric, by chance? 2. I’ll be wearing the Black Rose. Sorry to confuse you.

Rodney Loder

We’d have to go to Western Australia for that type of marriage, we could ride over on our bikes then go touring in the 7seater we just bought over there, or maybe just go over by air and send the bikes by truck, in the before-time I could preform the marriage myself being Isa Son of Maryium , so don’t worry about that technical detail. Lucky I know about the black rose I wouldn’t want to latch on to some bitch jut because she’s wearing an orchid that day.

Kira Binkley

To clarify, I meant “gentle”, not “gentile”… But you made me laugh again, Rodney, and I’m not feeling too happy right now. Can’t figure out why exactly.

Rodney Loder

Gentle , !!!!, Well, well, well, so that’s different then, gentile is like hens teeth worn right down from nattering about nothing, making it out to be something, when what became of useless information was it’s worst enemy, and that is my forte.

Again for my part in this affair I see the problem to do with physiology, that is demands must be met, nothing to do with the bants and hearts that obviously you have been relying on to fill in your day, and night, I think that probably, that infantile remedy for appeasement has passed for you, and is no longer is satisfying your intellectual needs.

Also small minded funny stuff could even make it alarmingly either pleasant or unpleasant depending on your acceptance level of structural morphological balance with the psychological demands on your physiological banter.

I can’t recommend anything at this juncture, send me your photographic image so I can make a logical deduction.

Kira Binkley

Well, Four—count ’em, 4—exclamation points, and a space!!!! Without hen’s teeth, how could hens peck? You KNOW what I look like, Rodney. What part of “incredibly beautiful” do you not understand? Love—

Rodney Loder

Thank you for the four great explanation points, I can only do my best that’s one, two is falling short of being able to satisfy your senses if what you believe is true, because seeing what you believe is a come back from believing what you see, and can’t be trusted unlike me. Three is the beak of a chook is a precision instrument similar to female anatomy. No.4. You got it I want it, time is àwasting.

Also, thank your beauty for me, I am appreciative of you in every beautiful conclusion that you might reach, my only apprehension is that over there others do likewise, you only must promise never to pass notes to boys even if you are no longer in class, and if you do, to be fair to me they should be publicized on the Southfront forum.

Kira Binkley

And if I believe in unicorns, are you intimating that I can see them? Einstein did say something about imagination being all you need to do scientific research. Something like that. You should be good at research, Rodney.

Rodney Loder

I am experiencing a glitch on al-Monitor, could be I am imagining being shafted but I’ll try again later, I really wanted to say something about Murpheys Law, and I agree with you on everything, except don’t bring Buckley’s Chance into our conversation don’t forget you promised intimacy with me, and you can’t get out of it, !! Allah knows everything don’t forget.

Einstein was a knuckle head who plagiarized everything, whereas I am the first one ever to bring Tele-telepathic Realism to light, it was always there but so obscured by both existence and reality that no one imagined that it was an association of exchange relevance effecting meaning while being itself hinged to a biological beginning, my biological beginning that is.

Fundamentally this strange occurrence was evident when Rudiments were not able to get on the pathway of process caused by subsumption and it’s paradoxical counter part synthesis, because recognition and communication were not possible until the bridge went into action and came up with Allah, who then ditched the Alien but I’m not sure about that specific point.

Only I can explain who how and why this Tele-telepathic bridge of relevance made God in the first place, if you want to be in on the game then just don’t you forget what you promised, I’m waiting patiently till December this year and then I’m going to give up and join the MX motorcycle racing fraternity.

Kira Binkley

Well, Rodney, if you’re not sure, why say it? Never heard of “Buckley’s Chance”. Maybe you mean “Binkley’s Chance”. I can’t get out of it, only has two (2) exclamation points. Surely I’m worth more than that!!!!

Rodney Loder

Because the Alien is very real to a lot of people who just can’t control themselves, and I know that both you and I are not one or other, but for them that become bescides themselves when subjected to the unusual, I brings up about the Alien occasionally.

Alas, if the Alien was real and Space ditched him where did he go, Space is eternal, and if he did make it out and came back in, having learned his lesson, but that’s a very scarry story I’ll save till I’m closer by certainly I don’t want you seeking protection elsewhere.

Binkley’s chance exactly !!!. But Kira I can only do my best, and I do respond to compliments and phone calls and photos.

Kira Binkley

And so !! Why can’t they control themselves? Is that the challenge for psychologists today?

Rodney Loder

Good can never win outright, if it did bad would look like a White Knight trying to make everything better, and better is limited to sharing what is available in possibility . that is usually always about 97% committed to a maintenance of what is.

Many thinkers maintained that formality was agreement, and this is how they paid their bills, you have made numerous such comments about the need to be practical which of course is not romantic and neither is romance affixed to marrying a layabout, there is only a very small margin most of our capacity has to be spent in agreement, except of course for the Telepathic Kid which is me I can disqualify as well as quality in the very same breath, so the psychologists just gave up and are waiting for me to go into Occultation before they worry about any challenge outside of making financial decisions.

Kira Binkley

Oh.

Rodney Loder

Your right to question that, and you gave insight into a deepened relevance that appeared as a apprehension at first but when the black colitis subsided a bright idea presented itself, I am no longer the Telepathic Kid now. I have become since this morning the *Deductive Sensual Matrix, and I did notice the number of times I got called darling by not so young women while shopping did increase this morning.

Kira Binkley

Well, it makes sense to me.

Rodney Loder

You like the Matrix I’m not surprised, it’s appealing to young beautiful women because an aberration often is the result of a sedimentation from apprehension delving deeper into the psychology of knowing stuff is really great, Oh ! the greatest happiness is being responsible for happiness, whatever the topic whatevers the final realisation, the fasting is just one the other is gluttony, have a happy Ramadan everybody, participating or not the many are grateful for the few who are the happiest causing happiness.

Hell, former French leaders, like DeGaulle, Mitterand, Clemanceau, they’re all spinning like crazy in their graves at Macron’s utter subservience to the US and his willingness to turn France into a US vassal. Hell, Macron has probably ordered that Les Invalides is to be barricaded and locked off the outside world. In case Napoleon rises from the grave in disgust to tear Macron a new asshole.

De Gaulle had a Great Destiny fitting to his Name, For Mitterand and Clemenceau I am not convince at all

Barba_Papa

Clemenceau held France together during WWI, when it could have easily cracked. Especially after the 1917 mutiny. Mitterand had a vision for France as a Great Power, independent of the US. A vision Sarkozy, Hollande and Macron are flushing down the drain in exchange for American sidekick status.

They were both assholes, but I reckon that comes with the territory of being a French leader.

Clem brother was remunerated by Basil Zaharoff owning newspapers, weapon factories and corrupting all the Belligerents Wars Ministers… What’s going on in the today Middle-East isn’t a much different Business !

The Merchant of Death: Basil Zaharoff

If the Lord God Jehovah had not created Basil Zaharoff, some novelist sooner or later would certainly have got around to the job. Indeed, it is by no means certain that Zaharoff, as we have him, is not the joint product of God and the fiction writers.

Lieutenant Colonel Walter Guinness, member for Bury St.Edmonds, committed the blunder against history of referring to Zaharoff in the House of Commons in 1921 as the “Mystery Man of Europe.” Having fixed upon him that fascinating label, the figure of Zaharoff became thereafter a costumer’s dummy upon which the news caricaturists of Europe draped whatever garments would vindicate his reputation.

Mysterious indeed he is and still more mysterious he became at the hands of the sensational news portrait painters. The mystery begins with his birth. A French biographer, Roger Menevee? records that he was born in Moughliou, or Mugla, on the Anatolian coast. But a German, Robert Neumann, asserts that Zaharoff, testifying in a London court as a young man, said he was born in the Tatavla or poor section of Constantinople, and he notes that the Mugla nativity is attested by an affidavit of a Greek priest made forty-two years after the event and was based upon memory.

It was never known with complete certainty to what country he owed allegiance. He was a Greek, born in Turkey, who lived in Paris. His right to the ribbon of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor was questioned in the Chamber of Deputies and M. Clemenceau had to assure the Chamber that “M. Zaharoff is a Frenchman.” But also he was throughout his life the guiding genius of a great British armament concern, acted as a British agent, was a Knight of the Bath, known in England as Sir Basil Zaharoff.

Journalists said he spoke fluently fourteen languages — which is probably an extravagant exaggeration. They reported how he had confided to a written record the story of his life, filling fifty-eight volumes which he ordered to be burned at his death, while others told how he had himself destroyed the record, two days being consumed in reducing it to ashes in the furnace of his Paris home. Extravagant tales were told of his habits, his amours, his dinners, and the exotic dishes brought fresh by plane from immense distances for his table. But, in fact, the reporters and the historians have produced but little about the personal life and affairs of the man. Searching the extensive but empty records, one fails to discover any documents or letters or speeches or records or meetings or conferences or instances in which the man is actually present. Always one hears that he is somewhere in the background, off in the shadows, pulling the strings, supplying the stratagems and the money.

Yet it is certain that he remains the most considerable figure in that feverish world of the munitions makers that has had so much advertisement since the Great War. Only a few names take first rank among this dubious company — old Alfred Krupp, the cannon king of Essen, the Schneiders of Creusot, Thomas Vickers, the English gun maker of Sheffield, Skoda, du Pont de Nemours, the American powder king, Colt and Winchester and Remington and Maxim. They were all, as Messrs. Englebrecht and Hanighen have called them, “Merchants of Death.” But the mightiest “merchant” among them, the man who played the largest role in the “merchandising” of munitions, the greatest market maker, was Basil Zaharoff.

It was his melancholy good fortune to come upon the scene when the world went in for arms on an unprecedented scale and it was he who, more than any other man, developed the international market for arms. He did not invent it, to be sure. Old Alfred Krupp had played off Turkish orders against his native Prussia when Zaharoff was a mere fireman in Tatavla. And long before either of them — centuries before — old Andries Bicker, Burgomaster of Amsterdam, had built and supplied and provisioned and even financed a complete navy for Spain when the Spanish king was waging war upon Holland. He then explained to the outraged Dutch that if Holland had not armed the Spanish enemy, the Danes would have done it and reaped the profit.

But Zaharoff played a leading, if not the leading, role in that strange world comedy of the arms makers leading the double life of chauvinists and internationalists. They gave us the spectacle of Boers mowing down English regiments with Vickers’ pom-poms, Prussian surgeons picking out of Prussian wounded Austrian shrapnel fired by Krupp’s cannon, French poilus massacred by shot poured out of guns made in Le Creusot, English Tommies killed by weapons produced by Armstrong and Vickers, and American ships sent to the bottom by U-boats built on models supplied by American submarine builders. Zaharoff was the master of what one biographer has called the “principle of incitement,”under which war scares were managed, enemies created for nations, airplanes sold to one nation and antiaircraft guns to her neighbors, submarines to one and destroyers to another. He did what the cigarette people did, what the liquor industry, the beauty industry did — created a demand for his merchandise. The armament industry became a game of international politics, the arms salesman a diplomatic provocateur, the munitions magnates of all nations partners in cartels, combines, consolidations; exchanging plans, secrets, patents. He was the greatest of all the salesmen of death, and, as one commentator has observed, if you would see his monument, look about you at the military graveyards of Europe.

Mitterand was an assshole, but Chirac was a French hero.

Barba_Papa

He was an asshole, probably all French leaders are, but at least he had a vision of France other then as an American vassal. When the Americans went to bomb Libya after the Lockerbie bombing and wanted to overfly French airspace he told them to take a hike.

Yet the French did help destroy Libya after all, didn’t they?

What ‘Betrayal’? On War, Trump Has Delivered as Promised

by CHARLES DAVIS FacebookTwitterGoogle+RedditEmail

The toddler is drunk, tired and angry. It is also stupid. It is a stupid, drunk, tired, angry toddler, and about 49 percent of the adult population wanted to give this diaper-rashed monster a couple thousand nuclear warheads to play with. Donald Trump is the septuagenarian child in this analogy, and while he we can’t say for sure that he will kill us all in a 5:30 am temper tantrum, the latest Trump hire has some of those who dabbled in apologism for his brand of militarism feeling hurt and scared.

“Trump has broken another campaign promise — and it is surely his most dangerous betrayal yet,” Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of The Nation, a liberal magazine, wrote in a recent column for The Washington Post. This was in response to the president selecting John Bolton, an advocate of invading ‘bout everywhere, to be his national security advisor. “The candidate who promised to get us out of stupid wars is now loading up for war,” she lamented — “a far cry from the foreign policy Trump claimed to support during the campaign.”

On that campaign trail, Trump did rail against “nation building,” and he claimed (falsely, vanden Heuvel notes) that he was an opponent of the Iraq war. He also regularly talked about his desire to “get along” with the Russian government, which was juxtaposed with the Democrats’ post-hacking drive for a new Cold War.

But if the Iraq war was on some progressives’ minds, what came immediately before it was not: George W. Bush campaigning against what he called nation building. Every Republican does this, “nation building” a term that serves as partisan shorthand for liberals’ alleged tax-and-spend desire to spread gender equality with boots on the ground.

Trump also ran on more frequent and brutal air raids in any country with a terrorist cell. He promised to kill off the families of any extremist he had tortured by a CIA he now wants run by an alleged Bush-era torturer. And Bolton’s was the first name he spewed when asked, back in August 2015, to whom he turns for advice on foreign policy.

“I like Bolton,” the future president said. “I think he’s, you know, a tough cookie.”

So why might anyone feel betrayed? Because what some on the left conflated with a desire for fewer wars — “A jolt of realpolitik from an isolationist Republican would be no bad thing,” wrote The Guardian’s Simon Jenkins in his July 2016 column, “At least President Trump would ground the drones” — was Trump’s stated policy on Russia: to cede it a sphere of imperialism while bombing the hell out of terrorists, together.

The fact that Trump might have the world’s most dangerous mustache brushing up against him, foreign death tolls moistly whispered in his ear, was drowned out by the chorus of pundits who argued that collusion with Russian militarism was suggestive of a preference for diplomacy.

Weeks before the 2016 election, it was braying about Russian electoral interference that led some to argue that the man who would be president had already shown himself to be a statesman, in his own unique way. In an August 2016 column, vanden Huevel chided Democrats for “peddling unsubstantiated claims of collusion,” pointing to a story about the hack of the DNC possibly having been ordered by the Russian government, to which members of the Trump campaign had some curious ties. Democrats, she wrote, were “on the verge of becoming the Cold War party, with Trump, ironically, becoming the candidate of détente.”

“It is simply sober realism,” vanden Heuvel continued, “not pro-Russia or pro-Putin to make the case that the United States has a real stake in working with Russia,” especially on matters such as “the Islamic State and terrorism.”

That Trump promised to “bomb the shit out of” that same Islamic State was not lost on vanden Huevel, but she characterized that as a “ridiculous” pledge “no more credible” than Democrats’ fear-mongering over the next president’s fondness for Vladimir Putin. But both claims were credible — and how else would one expect an avowed militarist to deal with militant extremists? By the summer of 2016, Russia had already shown what it meant by fighting terrorism in Syria, with thousands of civilian dead a testament.

While some were uncomfortable with Trump’s vulgarity, an unreasonably wide consensus, stated with various degrees of comfort, was that bombing the hell out of Syria would be a lesser evil, just as it’s a lesser evil when others do it. The greater evil was Hillary Clinton’s Syria no-fly zone — the likes of which already exists over the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces forces in northern Syria — that threatened to “start an air war with Russia,” in the words of the Green Party’s Jill Stein.

“Under Hillary Clinton, we could slide into nuclear war very quickly from her declared policy in Syria,” argued Stein, whose campaign website had stated that the U.S. should work with Russia and Syrian governments to fight terrorism. “On the issue of war and nuclear weapons, it is actually Hillary’s policies which are much scarier than Donald Trump, who does not want to go to war with Russia. He wants to seek modes of working together.”

That the anti-establishment subversion on display here reflected the then-dominant strain of neoliberal elite thinking was an argument others made, in its defense.

Like Trump, The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald observed in an August 2016 post, Obama sought “to work in cooperation with, not in opposition to, Russia.” Indeed, Obama had even “proposed a partnership to achieve that,” spending his last year in office seeking an agreement with the Russian government that would have seen Washington and Moscow swapping intelligence and jointly striking Sunni jihadists in Syria; this, instead of Hillary’s global conflagration (Obama, according to a former State Department official, would himself “caricature” critics of his Syria policy as desiring “something between World War III and an open-ended, treasury-draining American commitment”).

The inability to think beyond the conventional wisdom, gratingly framed as adversarial truth-telling, is a reflection of the extent to which left thought on foreign policy has been captured by the faux-sophistication of narrowly geopolitical analysis. Instead of a progressive alternative to overlapping imperialisms, some progressives have chosen to answer a bleeding-heart liberal interventionism constructed of straw with a cold-hearted realism that sees other states but not other people, “getting along with Russia” a ghastly euphemism for two governments dropping bombs on mutually agreed upon targets.

The outrage is dialed up, and only momentarily, when Trump seeks to one-up his predecessor with cosmetic strikes on empty runways in response to the Syrian regime killing civilians with the wrong kind of weapon. Nearly four years of U.S. airstrikes on non-regime targets have killed scores, but at least Russia was happy.

Bomb or be nuked — we wish there were other options — was the manipulative argument of those who advocated invading Iraq, so it is as poetic as it is horrific that Trump has betrayed the shallow, stubborn and blind by choosing a leading proponent of that war to be his first line of advise on who to kill next. But as with the tripling of civilian casualties from U.S. airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, paired with the isolationism of not wanting to rebuild that which was just destroyed, this is what Trump always promised.

“France will in no way allow an escalation or anything that would harm regional stability, but we cannot allow regimes that believe they can act with impunity to violate international law in the worst possible way.” Well, what a bullshit statement of the year. It is US, France, UK and Israel that are trying to escalate and de-stabilise the region further. It is UZA regime that is violating International law repeatedly and acting with impunity, destroying countries. Even if the bogus claim about Assad was true it would be nothing compared to Yemen. Or Libya. Or Iraq.

Kudos to Iran for letting Russia use their air base. A second benefit of doing so is that it must piss off those ME squatters immensely!
