Tensions continue to build up all over Syria following the surprising fall of the Assad regime, due to different internal and external factors.
As of December 10, intense battles were ongoing between the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern and eastern Aleppo countryside. With direct support from the Turkish military, the SNA captured the key city of Manbij, one of the largest urban centers in the area.
The SNA is apparently planning to advance into SDF-held areas on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. Turkish strikes have been already reported on the town of Kobani, a stronghold of the SDF, and its surroundings.
The SDF also reported clashes with the SNA on the Tishrin Dam, with multiple waves of attacks being repelled by Kurdish fighters.
Meanwhile in eastern Syria, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the de-facto ruler of Syria, continues to advance. The group has reportedly captured the town of Kabajib in the western Deir Ezzor countryside, some 40 kilometers to the west of the city center.
Tensions were also reported between HTS and SDF near the al-Qa’im crossing on the border with Iraq in the southern Deir Ezzor countryside, with reports of the United States, the main backer of the Kurdish-led group, threatening HTS.
In southern Syria, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continues to expand its control. Reuters reported that Israeli troops reached the town of Qatana, some ten kilometers away from the buffer zone, and advanced as close as 25 kilometers to the southwestern outskirts of the capital, Damascus.

In addition to this advance, the Israeli Air Force intensified its strikes on military targets all over Syria, reaching as far as the northern countryside of al-Hasakah in eastern Syria.
Footage shows a Turkish UCAV type (AKSUNGUR) falling in the al-Derbasiya after it was shot down by SDF forces
Israeli strikes also hit key ports in the western governorate of Lattakia, destroying all of the Syrian Navy.
Situation in the port of Lattakia after the Israeli strikes
As for the coast, HTS and its allies continue to solidify their new control over the governorates of Lattakia and Tartus, with no serious incidents being reported.
The group’s deployment didn’t appear to affect the operations of the Russian bases in Tartus port and Hmeimim Airport in Lattakia. Russian flights over ISIS-held pockets in the central Syrian desert were reported. However, it is still unclear if Russia is planning to keep both bases.
Meanwhile in Damascus, HTS began to take action to secure the political transition after the collapse of the old Syrian regime.
Mohammed al-Bashir, who led HTS’ salvation government in Idlib, announced that he has been appointed the caretaker prime minister of the transitional Syrian government until March 1 of next year. It is still unclear if the group is planning to share power with other opposition groups after this period.
Overall, Syria is still far from being stable. The future of the country remains unclear, especially with HTS status as a terrorist group. So far, the group has proven to be pragmatic. However, it is unclear if it will be able to control the situation in the country, or if it is planning to continue its translation towards modern governance.
MORE ON THE TOPIC:
here are the predictions for south front. nato propaganda outlets will deliver their usual mix of unwarranted putin criticism, exaggerated claims about syria’s supposed problems for russia, and an assortment of insults when their narrative collapses (which will happen swiftly).
putin deserves criticism. he messes up just as much as any western leader, if not more so.
ever since prigozhin had his airplane accident russian foreign policy has been entirely neglected from a military perspective.
it might all turn out for the best, heaven knows africa is just a money pit that wouldn’t of turned out any better for the russians then it did for the colonized french.
silence when generalissimo vanya speaks ! why should anybody care about what nato bullshit you spout anyway ?
we referred vanya to nice lgbt amerikunt therapist to help her sort out multiple gender disorders
of course its putin’s fault! look what he did to napoleon!
if putin would have been around then he would have made a deal with the french and not attacked their supply lines…
for generalissimo vanya, war is easy when it is in his head. the fact that reality has nothing to do with what generalissimo vanya wants it to be is not a problem. thats is why he is generalissimo and not you.
…since putin controls the weather worldwide, the world is experiencing an apocalyptic climate change 😉
your advertising is weak
projection too.
notice how fast the israelis are taking advantage of the situation. why can’t the russians ever be ready to take advantage of situations? after the 2014 coup the russians could have easily taken all the russian speaking parts of ukriane, instead they waffled and let the west arm ukraine to the teeth.
russians policy always reactive and very slow at that.
generalissimo vanya does not understand that syria was weakened after 10 years of sanctions and war and complete demoralisation of its population and army. how does it compare to ukraine in 2014 ? not at all : but you should trust what generalissimo vanya says because he is not generalissimo for nothing.
well the chinese could have used investments to prop up syria while russians and iranians helped defend it but china just looks at china i hope russia remembers it when china asks for help in the war against taiwan.
another gay companion of generalissimo vanya, kotromatic have several powers given to him by captain hind vision : should have, could have, would have. and it led him to believe that not everything is putin’s fault, as some of the fault lies with china. but it is always nato’s enemies’ fault for sure.
and yes sure it is russias and chinas fault not indias or brazils cause neither of those intend to challenge the us suprimmacy. the usa initiated the steps that led to all those wars cause they feel challenged. if you dont want to fight them dont its ok but dont pretend you want to cause that makes the hegemon to feel threatened and lash out which costs lifes. if you play the game of thrones you win or you die. dont play if you dont want to commit cause the west allways commits.
china against taiwan is not in the interest of russia. but as soon as this conflict matures to china vs. usa (incl. eu, aus) then russia has to decide its position.
i couldn’t agree with you more, definitely if putin intervened ukraine in 2014 russia would not face all this problem. looks like you know better than the russians.
generalissimo vanya couldn’t agree more with himself. with his trusty sidekick captain hind vision (with 20/20 back vision), he can predict what should have been done, because he has seen what has actually been done led to. this power is not given to everybody : just to every drunkard in every bar ever. godspeed, generalissimo vanya !
erdogan says it like it is. now that he’s in charge syria will again be one, undivided and unoccupied by the us or anyone else, and the kurdish pkk-ypg terrorist will have to leave or be hunted down and slaughtered like the filthy swine they are.
edgroden is no fool, this is not the first time he has come out on top.
i have no idea why mosow thinks they can deal with him.
nor do i…
well he’s come out all right, but staying on “top” here as you put it is debatable even now, but i wouldn’t dismiss it. they’re still in this nato for as long as it lasts.
the only filthy swine is the whore mother that brought you to this world. u guys switching sides more often than changing underwear. one day a nato ally, then a friend of putin and the next day backstabbing him again. occupying syria for yourself and letting jihad scum the lowest subhuman filth do the dirty work.
well thats what your read when you look up turk at wikipedia. but you kurds should know it you were there enforcers and bloodhounds during the ottoman age basically what hts is now. you were just like them until they backstabbed you and denied you your own nation. but you may be lucky and the usa needs you to keep the turks in check.
no kurd alive today is responsible for what happend back then or deny or justify it. matter fact may family even sheltered armenians and even today we welcomed christians and other minorities all over iraq who seek shelter from jihad scum. whats even the point of bring that up?
actions have consequenzes you helped turkey become so stable and strong due to ethnic cleansing of all potential internal adversarys besides your people. and today you descided to stay in your corner just fight isis if they get close and let the rest pan out while having some deal with the usa to help them steel oil. if you had cooperated more with syria they would have not depended as much on iran and hezbolah and syria would have not been defenceless without them.
fsa are terrorist just wait
i dont see the usa letting turkey take out their best bargaining chip against them. the plan seems to be to connect isreal occupied parts of syria to us controled al tanf and then up to deir essor and the kurdish territorys so the planned pipeline goes through to israel and turkey through kurdish territorys. remember assad denying this pipeline and opting for the iranian one was the original reason for all this.
“syria far from being stable after assad’s fleeing” lol, this is like saying a man is not being very healthy after being beheaded.
1) hamas leadership decapitated 2) hezbollah getting it’s shit pushed in 3) iran and syria getting bombed in embarrassing ways by israel 4) israel’s enemies collapsing as it moves on into their lands 5) with help from jihadists, (and without iranian supply) lebanon will soon fall. so proud 🥲🇮🇱🏁
congratulations and the rest of the world still does not do the math and understand that the entire al quaida/ isis thing was a ruse of the usa and isreal in the first place.
proud of sowing carnage. that is why you will never live in peace
well i dont think any one who was part of this attack wanted a stable syria afterwards so whats the point of the article. working as intended.
hope that this nation would be able to resist genocide joe and netanyahu. asad was to soft, he could not solve the problem. one can see than gj and gn are already in there nature element, spreading democracy and freedom with bombs as usual. one could wonder if they are after damascus.israelis are closing and arabs as usual just watch and complain a little.
as long as russia loves its enemy’s, the meat grinder will continue. its disgusting how russia cant spell out that the germans and russians occupying palestine are not jews. rt and sputnik news seems to still think newtons laws are not valid in north america, but slowly start to think that mass murder in the hospitals are maybe not so good ;-) they speak about a multi polar world, but very slowly understands what the central ruled world do towards humanity.
grandiose speeches and bullshit diplomatic deals have a limited currency expiry date. old lavrov should experience some diplomatic push back in the un now from these ‘global south’ countries after this fiasco ten years in the making.

are these the so called moderate rebels u speak of?
netanyahu: “we want relations with the new government in syria, but if iran is allowed to establish its presence, we will respond forcefully” i guess he’s found out iranians will accommodate hts wishes in any way just to get back at the genocidal, war criminal, israeli regime. what’s that they say? the enemy of my enemy is my friend. israel made a lot more enemies by killing 50k innocent civilians in gaza & despite asad being gone they keep strikin syria
hopefully the israhelli terrorists are next after the kurdish trash and their zionists backers are pushed out of syria
id rather have them weaken the turks first im sure the usa would not mind them clipping erdogans wings a bit as well.
hopefully israel takes over the rest of syria but unfortunately they are too civilized and have no intrest in territorial expansion
oh they have but the problem is they only want room to settle not the people on it.
jews are one of the most uncivilized peoples in the world. you obviously not paying attention, given they are doing territorial expansion as we speak
‘interest’ is how you spell it. being a bit cynical aren’t you ?
no i was death serious. it is probably easy talking for u, but if u as non-arab/sunni minority, whatever your opinion is regarding israel, would choose these vile hardcore jihadi isis 2.0 scum as a neighbor over israel, than u clearly lack survival instincts or any situation awareness.
my survival instincts are pretty good. still around after many years. my ‘situation awareness’ , well that’s a sweeping and vague statement. i don’t have cognitive issues. to pair “jews” and “civilised” together is perhaps the most outrageous example of an oxymoron that could be . the children of gaza bear testimony to this. as an apologist for zio animals go, you’re about the best there is, but devoid of any intellect.
fsa and zionist are same
unlike assad, hts will not tolerate the us/sdf sitting on all of the oil fields, also, erdogan wants them eliminated. this is to be expected.
fsa vs hts war come soon
” give them shows and parades” kaiser willhelm they’re like children they love a circus.
syriastan here we come!
fsa will make syria to a shit country
after 3 sessions we evaluated sawyer as too stupid to benefit from therapy —she is referred to taliban nursing home
notice how israel sank even the old osa missile boats as they would ever be a menace for anyone now.
and why they are advancing in syria? who has ever threaten them from damascus? where is the international community now?
where is russia and iran ? oh, wait. they left and abandoned syria and assad. chickensad
the situation will become more apparent as the factions show their true colors and leanings. ngo’s will be the first indicator of whom the western is backing, hoping to control the incoming ‘government’. we’ll see if htc is a cia puppet soon. i suspect getting rid of the assad dynasty has been a goal for along time. us would love to see russian bases overrun, but i suspect they are not that foolish as to cut ties with a very very pissed off russia.
here’s a little analogy of reality and why nothing is what it seems .white refined sugar which was the main production of the african slave trade by england, known as the candy shop or lolly shop of the world back in the day , is a narcotic it’s a drug it’s instantly addictive just one taste and it triggers the brains mechanism to want another instantly. ok? understand? hooked on a narcotic.
you live in a world full of drug addicts. you’re one .and they and you most likely , don’t even know it .you need to wake up .you repeat propagandas like parrots numbed by narcotics.
the taliban were real nicey nicey when they first took over afghanistan. then they made women wear the hijab and stopped allowing them an education.
of course, assad is only 1 less player
our attempts to stabilize mentally ill feminized hysteric vanya failed; 3 gay mulattos pacified it filling its transgender mouth w fresh semen
ritter is usually a good analyst, but wrong now. he insists that this was just lucky happenstance, that hts only was going for aleppo, but there was no resistance, so they kept going. i don’t believe this. uprising directly after truce in lebanon, israel assisted by bombing saa, turkey provided access from turkey, ukr provides drones and training. but it was all lucky and assad is bad because he fled and syrians are responsible because they didn’t want to fight.
