On July 14, the predominantly Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces engaged the ISIS terrorist group in the city center of Manbij. Heavy clashes are reportedly ongoing.
This was the first time when the US-backed group was able to reach the center of strategic city in Aleppo province. All previous clashes were located in Manbij’s suburbs with intense support of US warplanes and military advisers.
If the ISIS defenses in city center is destroyed, it will become a tipping point in the battle for Manbij.
Meanwhile, the US-led coalition air power conducted a series of air strikes, destroying 16 ISIS fighting positions.
