AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) – continued their large-scale offensive in the Palmyra (Tadmur) countryside on Wednesday, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions along three different flanks.
The Syrian Armed Forces began their assault on Wednesday by striking ISIS’ defenses at the Mustadura Gas Fields in northeast Palmyra, resulting in the liberation of 3 more hilltops en rout to the village of ‘Arak.
Following the advance in northeast Palmyra, the Syrian Armed Forces launched two more attacks that targeted ISIS’ positions at the western flanks of ‘Arak village and T-3 Military Base.
The Tiger Forces offensive in east Homs is heavily concentrated on the two axes in Palmyra’s eastern countryside; this area has two primary roads that lead to the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
The main roadways in eastern Palmyra are the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor Highway and the seasonal Palmyra Road that eventually becomes part of the Damascus-Baghdad International Highway.
In the coming weeks, the Tiger Forces should make a major push along both of these roadways in the eastern Homs countryside.
