Syria To Get Nothing From Upcoming Deal With Israel

File image.

Israel told Syria during their ongoing talks that it intends to maintain control over the peak of Mount Hermon, Hebrew media reported on September 14.

Mount Hermon was captured by the Israeli military along with the entire buffer zone adjacent to the occupied Syrian Golan Heights just a few hours after the fall of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad last December. Soon after, nine Israeli posts were established there, including two on the peak of the strategic mountain, which oversaw most of the country’s southern region up to Damascus, in addition to much of southern Lebanon, the heartland of Hezbollah.

Israeli officials who spoke to Channel 12 described the posts on the mountain’s peak as “an indispensable strategic asset.”

Damascus rejected the Israeli demand, calling Israel’s military presence on Syrian territories an “occupation that must end.”

One of the officials cited by Channel 12, said that the Israeli military views the posts it established recently in southern Syria as a “strategic treasure.”

The official said troops have seized “tons of weapons” over the past eight months from former Syrian military posts on Mount Hermon, including during a raid deep inside Syria that reached the outskirts of Damascus.

Israeli military officers later provided Yedioth Ahronoth with more information on the raid, codenamed “Operation Green White.”

The raid penetrated 38 kilometers deep and lasted 14 hours, involving reserve units from the 210th Division and the Druze battalion Herev 299, the officers said, adding that the raid targeted two large unmanned bases that were filled with heavy weapons and munitions.

Last month, Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani met with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer in France to discuss a possible security agreement. The latest Hebrew media reports came ahead of an expected follow-up meeting between the two ministers.

Israel will not likely give up on Mount Hermon. At the same time, Syria will not likely abandon the talks because of the issue.

In an interview aired recently by the state-run Al-Ikhbariyah, Interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa confirmed that talks with Israel were still moving forward and seemed hopeful of a near agreement.

“We are now in a state of negotiations and dialogue on the issue of a security agreement,” he said.

Israel’s refusal to withdraw from Mount Hermon would be a major embarrassment for Sharaa, who is largely backed by Islamists. This is not, however, the only bad thing about the agreement at work.

The agreement would include, according to recent Hebrew media reports, the demilitarization of the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, the prevention of the restoration of the Syrian military, the barring of entry of any weapons into Syria that would threaten Israel, and the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to the Jabal al-Druze region of Syria.

In exchange, Syria will very much get nothing from Israel. The United States and Gulf countries will, however, supposedly work on the rehabilitation of the war-torn country.

While the agreement at work clearly favors the interests of Israel, Sharaa will likely accept it as it sees it as a quick way to legitimize and secure his rule.

jihadist syria would deserve chinese or indian atomic bombs dropped on damascus and aleppo. it would be good if chinese jihadist militants (uyghurs) committed a chinese version of 9/11 so that china would start carpet bombing syria. something that would completely destroy the genocidal regime and the country forever.

it will be good if, after the syrian elections in sweida, such a large-scale genocide occurs that the israeli druze will demand the cleaning of the cesspool of humanity.

the barring of entry of any weapons into syria that would threaten israel —this means anything bigger than a .22 caliber pistol.

does al-sharaa (aka jolani) not know that one cannot negotiate or make deals with the israelis, especially netanyahu? they never negotiate in good faith. you offer them something and they want more and more and more. it is in their dna.

bibi got charlie kirk, and he will destroy anyone including his entire country to rule over the ashes. that is his “mission” from his trillionaire owners. he is the great destroyer. he needs death to keep his ring of power. he will destroy israel: he is expected to perform that job for his master.

of course not, syria is an islamist puppet state. with the fall of assad, all arabs are now under the boot of israel.
hey arabs, how does it feel to be the lapdog of someone who hates you? you see what they’re doing to the palestinians? they’re going to do this to all arabs and iranians unless the latter acquire nuclear weapons. time is not on your side.

it appears that the current leader of syria, al-donkey is a poor student of history! he made a deal with the devil an expected the devil to keep his end of the bargain! history will judge him and the muslim leaders for this monumental betrayal!
