On November 14, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) repelled a joint advance of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar al-Sham and Faylaq al-Rahman in the Eastern Ghouta de-escalation zone, near Damascus.
The militants attacked the Armored Vehicle Base near the village of Harsta from the northern and eastern directions and used a car bomb to break the SAA defense there. They failed to achieve their goal. SAA Major General Walid Khawashqi was killed during the clashes.
The so-called opposition sees the expected defeat of ISIS as a threat to its security because it would allow the SAA to focus on the militant-held pockets across Syria.
In northern Hama, the SAA and the NDF have liberated the villages of Hasnawi, Qasr Shawi, Muwaylih Shamali, Mhassar, Rabiah, Hamra Silos and Mhassar Hill. The government advance came amid the continued tensions between Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement in the southwestern Aleppo countryside. This opens an additional opportunities for government forces to expand their control in the area close to Abu ad Duhur.
In eastern Deir Ezzor, the SAA Tiger Forces advanced towards the city of al-Bukamal, captured the village of Bir Daham, the hill of Milhim and entered the Ward fields.
The situation in al-Bukamal itself remains unclear. The SAA and Hezbollah are clashing with ISIS there.
Russia has never promised the US and Israel a withdrawal of Iranian forces from Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on November 14. He added that the presence of Iranian forces in the country is legitimate.
Lavrov denied Israeli media reports that the US-Russian ceasefire agreement in southern Syria included a Russian commitment to ensure that Iranian-backed forces would withdraw from Syria.
“If you look at who is the greatest danger, it’s just the wards of the United States, various foreign terrorists, militants who are attached to those groups of armed opposition that the US supports,” Lavrov added.
Lavrov’s statement proved that Moscow has much less understanding with Washington and Tel Aviv than the Israeli media wants to show.
Israel please do NOT force Syria’s hand. If Syria wants Ruskie or Iranian help, You should NOT interfere.
Hopefully both Russia and the US will concentrate on smashing ISIS and HTS, transferring troops and weapons from Eastern Europe and Korea in order to do so faster. Then Saudi Arabia and Iran can smash each other while abortion rights supporting Russia and US watch and laugh. Then Israel, US and YPJ can smash Syria and Iraq while Russia watches from their base, and bring ABORTION RIGHTS to the whole Middle East!
Very much unlikely. Russia will stand up for Syria. If the US is unwilling to attack North Korea, largely due to a Chinese response that might happen, Washington certainly wont risk attacking Syria, openly, while the russians made an actual red line in Russian blood throughout Syria. I see a more likely event to be the descalation on the Syria front, with transfer of terrorists from the region towards north africa, europe and asia. The effect will be a protracted war with terrorism waged both in the inner cities of the capitols of western europe and the third world hell holes where Daesh and other extremists will come to call home.

Russia went to Syria to defend it’s own bases and to avenge Al Qaeda and ISIS for attacking Russians. That doesn’t mean they will defend Assad against fellow abortion rights defending YPJ, which has never threatened Russians or Russian bases and has a long history with Russia; when Assad and Russia are opponents on ABORTION RIGHTS. Russia would much rather fight abortion banning Saudis than abortion rights defending Kurds and Israelis, especially if that means mutual troop transfers away from Eastern Europe to enable Russians to bomb Saudis while Americans bomb Iranians, both depleting stockpiles of bombs near Korea and Ukraine.
You have a very poor understanding of the Russians and you don’t seem to grasp the depth of the Ruso-Syrian relations. Russians have learned from Iraq, Libya, Serbia, that where America is left unchecked to behave as it previously has, the results are not only catastrophic for Russia but for the entire world. Thus, where they feel a line must be drawn and no further, do they step in. Russians got a base in Syria because they protected Assad, and because the regime is a long time friend and customer. US actions in Iraq with Sadam, Libya with Gadaffi, and Serbia with Milosovitch taught Russians that letting Syria fall to Islamic barbarism and the thumb of shadow American imperialism by ISIS, or those who fight them. I am shocked that this is a mystery to you. The Kurds are irrelevant, they will disappear in the pages of history as quickly as they came. Tomorrow America wants a submarine base in Turkey, Kurds will be massacred like dogs in the streets.
Milosovich protected abortion rights, like Russia but unlike the others, Russia will draw their line there. Russia can also win back Kurdish support as they have before, or convince Assad to respect abortion rights, which could patch things up with SDF.
Russia has no love or hatred for the Kurds. On the one hand, they are better than the islamic head chopping savages because they are not as barbaric, on the other, they are cowardly thieves who cant be trusted, and the moment you make a deal with the SDF, they stab you in the back. For the moment, the Kurds are useful for the United States to have secondary foothold in the region, and more specifically in Syria, as a back plan, because the head choppers won’t last much longer. On the other hand, the SDF by its nature raises problems with american allies like Turkey and has the potential to engulf the region in a large scale conflict where the United States would bear the bulk of the cost and the fighting. I have some sympathy for the kurds, and they no doubt suffered under the hands of Saddam, ISIS and the Turks. I don’t mind them getting a State. The land from this state can not come from Turkey or Syria without triggering a massive regional war. I see a federalized role in a limited territory in the north east of Syria for the kurds. Similarly in turkey, iraq and iran as these countries finish off domestic insurgencies and transition to civilian life. Abortion is not the pivotal issue in this conflict.
