The Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) have destroyed a “hostile target” near Damascus, the state-run news agency SANA reported on August 11.
According to the report, the target was destroyed over the Deir al-Ashair area. No more details were provided. However, according to local sources, the SADF destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
This is a second incident in the two weeks in which the SADF employed its systems against a target near Damascus. There are sepculations that the both “targets” were Israeli reconnaissance UAVs. However, these speculations have not been confirmed yet.
Some experts say that these UAVs may have been launched by militants from the Idlib de-escalation zone area.
