Late on September 6, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled an attack by three armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on one of its bases in the northwestern Hama countryside.
In an official statement, the army said that the Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAAF) destroyed two of the UAVs in the air, while the third was brought down.
“Our air-defense systems repelled in the eve of 6-9-2016 an attack attempt by the terrorist group on one of our military positions in the al-Ghab Plains with three UAVs carrying bombs, where we managed to destroy two and bring down the third and dismantle its ammo without any losses in the ranks of the armed forces,” the statement, which was released on September 7, reads.
Photos of the downed UAV show that it is identical to the ones usually used in attacks on Russian Hmeimim airbase. Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is reportedly manufacturing and operating this type of UAVs.
Earlier this week, Russian air-defense systems in Hmeimim airbase foiled a similar attack. These attacks represent a blatant violation of the current ceasefire.
my children are better armed……
I agree. These are nothing but Lego sets for kids under 5.
You have not idea of the damage of the explosion of these small weapons can do, they are really deadly and capable of detroyin a plane.
You are not avare of real question behind those “lego sets”?
Small but deadly, 6 little rockets of C2.
The rebels/terrorists break the ceasefire and the Putin does nothing.
