Syrian air defenses shot down on December 5 two drones over the capital, Damascus, a military official told Syrian state TV.
The incident came amid a large-scale offensive by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies in northern and central Syria. Just a few hours earlier, the militants imposed control of the city of Hama after the withdrawal of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
“A short while ago, our air defense systems engaged enemy drones in the skies of Damascus, and two aircraft were shot down,” the unnamed official said, noting that there were no casualties or material losses.
The official didn’t clarify if the drones were launched by HTS and its allies, who have been using such systems against the SAA since the start of their offensive, or by Israel which launches strikes against targets in Damascus and nearby areas on a regular basis.
After the drones were downed, a video posted to social networks showed three fixed-wing suicide drones, allegedly launched by HTS and its allies, flying over Hama towards the south, in the direction of the governorate of Homs and Damascus.
All in all, the security situation in Syria continues to deteriorate as a result of the offensive launched by HTS and its allies.
The militants has so far captured more than 800 square kilometers, including the cities of Aleppo and Hama as well as all of Idlib governorate.

how the hell did these guys get drones?!! only two possibilities, turkey or ukraine. shaheen drone are definitely turkey sponsored ones but i have also seen ones that were used by ukrainians. i have no opinion regarding ukrainians but if they assisted these jihadis with drones against a secular government, than that is a very low act. from turkey i didn’t expect anything else.
damascus is the next to fall. israel, us, turkey destroying syria, there is no hope left…
