Warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) carried out on January 15 a series of airstrikes on Idlib’s city center in the country’s northwestern region.
Opposition activists said that the heavy airstrikes targeted the al-Hal market as well as the city’s industrial zone. Many headquarters and installations of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are allegedly located there.
Iba’a, HTS’ news network, released photos showing the aftermath of the airstrikes, which wiped out many vehicles and workshops.
The SyAAF and the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) resumed their operations in Greater Idlib earlier in the morning after a brief ceasefire. HTS was the first side to violate the ceasefire by launching a series of attacks on military sites and civilian areas around the region.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), Syrian and Russian warplanes have carried out more than 100 airstrikes on Greater Idlib since the early morning hours.
The SAA could resume its ground operation in Greater Idlib in the upcoming few days. However, the chances that the ceasefire will hold up for the next few weeks are higher.
Nice
Bomb them to hell.
Well so much for that ceasefire that all of us here were expecting to last and bring everlasting peace to the region. So HTS didn’t take advantage of those corridors of escape to come and surrender as expected . Now that is a surprise. Is this ceasefire the shortest one on record.. No point in having any more then..
