On Saturday, a Syrian military battlefield source said that the Syrian air forces and artillery units bombarded ISIS positions in Deir Ezzur province, killing at least 10 and inflicting severe wounds on the terrorist group.

“The ISIL positions in two districts of al-Hwaiqa and al-Ummal were razed as Syrian fighter jets pounded the military positions and gathering centers of the ISIL in the city of Deir Ezzor and village of al-Hatla in the Eastern parts of the province, which also resulted in the destruction of the terrorist group’s equipment and vehicles,” the battlefield source said.

It is also reported on Saturday that the Syrian artillery units pounded a power plant in al-Thayyem oilfield that causes heavy casualties among the terrorists in that area.

There are also reports of Deir Ezzur province where the Syrian artillery units tracked and destroyed an ISIS military vehicles and hardware in Tal al-Mahrouqat area in the village of Baqaliyeh.

The Syrian air force also launched high-precision strike targeted and destroyed an ISIS mortar launch pad in Deir Ezzur on Friday.

On Friday, the Syrian fighter’s jets also bombed ISIS concentration center and defense lines near Al-Jafra region.

There are reports that the Syrian army and its allies are preparing for the final battle against the ISIS terrorists over al-Shoula region after capturing the oil-rich region of al-Thayyem in the Southeastern province of Deir Ezzur.

The strategically important al-Shoula region will lead to the reopening of Homs-Damascus road and winning back Deir Ezzur city from the terrorists completely.

For nearly five years, Syria has been observing a deadly conflict it blames on certain foreign states.  At least 470,000 people have been killed and millions have been displaced in the Arab country, according to a February report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research. The conflict has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure.

Nevertheless, the Arab country is currently observing an agreement for the cessation of hostilities which entered into force on February 27. The agreement stipulates the cessation of all military hostilities in Syria, except for the operations against ISIS terrorist group and al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front militants.

The agreement was negotiated by Russia and the United States. Many suggest that Washington is among the main supporters of terrorists fighting against the Syrian government forces.
