The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) has intensified its aerial operations against terrorists in the northern Lattakia countryside.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), dozens of Syrian airstrikes targeted positions in the strategic town of Kabani and in its outskirt on May 29 and 30.
Kabani is occupied by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the al-Qaeda-affiliated Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) and so-called Ajnad al-Kavkaz (AK). Turkish-backed factions have very little presence around the town.
The terrorists launched several rocket attacks on the Russian Hmeimim airbase from Kabani. In order to put an end to these attacks, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division launched a military operation to capture the town earlier this month.
So far, the army has secured very few positions south of Kabani. However, this may change in the upcoming few days, as the ongoing airstrikes indicate that a new ground attack is being prepared.
Very good, and I hope Russia aerospace force also can increase significantly its airstrikes on Idlib area. Russia must stop pleasing Turkey (NATO member).
The SyAAF has pretty good sortie capacity now with 12 Russian upgraded SU-24MK2 and 10 Iranian SU-22 Fitters which now have precision munitions as I have posted above. The headchoppers old T-55 in Idlib have been decimated and that is why they want a ceasefire.
Gotta hurry up before that next ceasefire with the Russians and Turks.
This is one of the 32 Iranian upgraded SU-22 Fitters with IRIAF and one of the 10 handed over to Syria. The pilots may still be Iranian. They are excellent ground attack aircraft with a pretty decent payload. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on 25 July, 2018 that it had reactivated and upgraded 10 Sukhoi Su-22 aircraft and transferred them to Syria.
Iranian media outlets reported that IRGC commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and IRGC Aerospace Force commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh had attended a ceremony to mark the aircraft’s return to service. They cited Brig Gen Hajizadeh as saying the Su-22s can launch guided air-to-ground munitions and air-to-air missiles, as well as share data with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). He added that there is a plan to arm them with cruise missiles with a range of 1,500 km.
Iranian television showed footage of the Su-22s at a location that could be identified as the IRGC airbase next to Shiraz International Airport. The base was used by the IRGC’s Su-25s before they were transferred to Iraq in 2014: a donation that left the force without any fast jets until now.
The television coverage showed five Su-22s flying together and one on the ground carrying a targeting pod and what appeared to be a laser-guided munition that may have been a Bina. Unveiled in 2014, the Bina looks like a US AGM-65 Maverick air-to-surface missile fitted with a semi-active laser seeker. At that time, it was seen being launched by one of the IRGC’s Su-25s.
The work on the Su-22s was reportedly done by Iranian experts without foreign assistance, which would have violated the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic by the UN Security Council.

It makes sense for Iranian pilots to be flying combat missions in Syria, in order to gain valuable experience in the event of a US invasion of Iran.
Iranians have been flying with SyAAF since early 2000. They mostly flew MIG-29 in interceptor role over eastern Syria as both have a large number of these aircraft. Why do you think the Zionist scum have never struck deep in Syria with manned aircraft? Imagine a captured Zionist scum on camera. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f49b01e4ed087f74f1e570fcc099245f658bec94369c9fa5564b928de2365da3.jpg
Why do the zionists need to go deep into Syria anyway? Deep in Syria is all their own land;Kurd -proxies rule it. So zionists only go onto the coastal areas that are still Assadian.
Having said the above I would love to see a caught Zionist pilot on camera but we never will;Russia will ensure Syria does not embarass Israel.
AWESOME POST!!!
There is an excellent video on YouTube posted by “Persian Boy’ that is 19 minutes, 36 seconds that covers this topic. The title is “Iran IRGC overhauls & upgrades old Russian aircraft report.” Good film footage. (That is a really good photo of an Su-22 attack aircraft at the top of this article.)
Iran inherited about 44 of these aircraft and now has restored and upgraded at least 36 with new avionics, HUD, new weapons systems and countermeasures. Even the airframes have been totally refurbished as the photograph from Iran Aviation Industries shows. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a2623f08578c4d6ba1a58be43932b3efff6ad2da42a70d541c5b87b22a0dc43a.jpg
many thanks!!!
Iran has upgraded all its 40 plus MIG-29 to SMT standards and both Russia and Iran are doing the same for Syria’s 72 MIG-29.

truly excellent!!!
Here are more details on SMT (Cyrillic acronym for MIG 29 upgrade) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cbc7f41de7c9f0767b76ece0c58996d263a45396e0486b2b58859fd5a4f596da.jpg
What is SMT?
MIG 29 SMT is the upgraded version of the original MIG 29 Fulcrum that has been a Russia AF frontline fighter for over 30 years and like all aircraft needed an upgrade with technological innovations since then. The SMT has better avionics, weapons systems and fuselage. The reinforced structure of the MiG-29SMT Fulcrum multi-role fighter aircraft with longer range and aerial refueling and three drop tanks it can now go 3,000 kms with a pretty good payload that I listed at the end.
results in increased flight endurance and a longer range. The aircraft
has two fixed, rearward-swept wings with square-cut wing tips. Two
vertical stabilisers are fitted at the rear.
The new glass cockpitof the MiG-29SMT fighter aircraft is equipped with a data displasystem consisting of two wide-screen MFD-10-6 multifunction colour
displays and hands-on throttle and stick control (HOTAS). It also
incorporates an INS-GPS navigation system. The aircraft is installed with a multifunctional, multi-mode,lightweight pulse doppler airborne radar Zhuk-ME, which was developed byPhazotron-NIIR. A slot antenna array is fitted on to the radar. This offers an
increased detection range and enhanced target recognition than previous
generation radars. It is capable of tracking up to ten air targets,
while engaging four targets simultaneously in air-to-air mode.
The aircraft features an open architecture mission computer with a
data exchange multiplex channel for integration of different avionics
systems, based on the customer requirements
The optional equipment includes an electronic countermeasures (ECM)
pod, radio stations, upgraded infrared search and track system (IRSTS),
as well as a variety of identification, friend or foe (IFF)transponders.
The multi-role fighter jet features six external hard-points to carry a variety of modern high-precision weapon systems.
It is armed with two R-27ER1(R1), two R-27ET1(T1) and six RVV-AE medium-range air-to-air missiles; six R-73E short-range air-to-air missiles; four KAB-500Kr / KAB-500L guided bombs; and a 30mm Gsh-301 built-in air gun.
The aircraft also carries two Kh-29TE, two Kh-29L and four Kh-25ML air-to-surface missiles; two Kh-31A anti-ship missiles; and two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles.
syria should use those 29’s to down and chase away zionist aircraft
Well done Iran! I love self -sufficiency. My first world country ,an English -speaking vassal of the Yankers has just lost all its car -manufacturing facility thus ensuring we can never arm ourselves in case of war. That means we can only fight those America wants us to fight ,with weapons only america sells us and also means we will always not be able to resist America ever even when they backstab and turn against us.
INSHALLAH KABANI WILL BE RED ONCE AGAIN!!! :))))))

The SAA needs more laser-guided artillery shells, and they can give their pilots a rest :)
But the Iranians are getting good practice on raining death on the headchoppers. Enjoy the image of over 50 F-14A Persian Cats, restored to the most advanced levels thanks to Persian ingenuity. The Americunt arsehole losers even destroyed all their navy F-14, so that Iran could not get spares, but the egg is on the Americunt arseholes ugly faces :)

Don’t you need spotters very close to the enemy targets to do that? Waste of special forces isn’t it?
Iran has skillful pilots and experience in engineering ,technological and technical know how in modification and reverse engineering.
Phone call diplomacy must end total transparency must apply.Because phone call diplomacy entails lots of lies and backbiting.Legitimate and affected countries must be allowed to make final decision.
SU 22 , Mig 29 A and the very old F14 are very old by today standard… they need some SU 35 and SU 30SM from Russia…
