Syrian Arab Army Is Preparing To Launch Large-Scale Advance On Deir Ezzor: Russian MoD

An alleged photo of Suheil al-Hassan, Commander of the Tiger Forces, with Russian miltiary advisers from the area of Palmyra. Source: https://twitter.com/MIG29_/status/860421930607923200

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch an operation from the city of Palmyra to capture the town of Sukhnah, located on the road of Palmyra-Deir Ezzor about 50 km east of Palmyra.

The goal of the operation is to set a foothold for a further advance on the key Syrian city of Deir Ezzor besieged by ISIS terrorists.

On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed that government forces, backed up by the Russian Aerospacce Forces, will develop the advance west of Palmyra.

This liberation of the city of Sukhnah can be considered as the first phase of a broader effort aimed at lifting the siege from the SAA forces in the city of Deir Ezzor.

According to reports, large reinforcements from the SAA’s Tiger Forces have moved from the eastern Aleppo countryside and the northern Hama countryside to the area east of Palmyra. The Tiger forces will support Al-Ashaer forces and the 5th Assault Corps stationed in Palmyra in the expected operation.

The Russian Aerospace Forces’ warplanes and attack helicopters will provide an air support to Syrian forces during the operation, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Yesterday, the SAA took control of 4 high points located west of the area of the “Talila Reserve” 18km east of Palmyra. The SAA and Syrian Hezbollah are developing their operation in the eastern Homs countryside against ISIS.

The SAA and its allies will be able to launch the widely expeted advance on Deir Ezzor thanks to the Safe Zones Agreement that should all sides to focus on fighting ISIS.

Separately, the SAA will likely launch a limited operation in the eastern Hama countryside in order to take control of Al-Aqrabat .

Finally. But I think it will be very difficult with defeating on the first place isis in a 150 km desert road. And at the same time to worry about the ‘rebels’ also pushing the same direction.

Attrition47

Beda Fomm.

Jesus

It is one thing to fight Italians and it is another thing to fight Rommel.

Bill Wilson

The Italian soldiers gave a good account for themselves in battle. They just had lousy generals and officers.

Jesus

Italy was a big disappointment starting with the Ethiopian war, later being a drag on German effort as an ally; Mussolini talked big, but he could not execute. The Italian fleet in the Mediterranean was a disappointment, some of the ground troops on the eastern front did relatively well; they seemed to do better when interacting with Germans, instead of doing things by themselves.

Attrition47

Rommel was let off the hook twice. It wasn’t as if other armies fighting the Germans were doing much better either ;o)

Jesus

What do you mean, Rommel was left off the hook twice? The Germans had the upper hand for the first couple of years of the war due to superior tactics and mobility. After the novelty wore off, the Russians and the English were able to fight against them more effectively. After Al Alemein victory, Stalingrad was next.

Tchoutoye

The rebels pushing in the same direction seems what is behind the SAA’s decision to finally advance to Deir Ezzor. It’s a race with the Euphrates as the finishing line. Russia needs to maximise its involvement or Eastern Syria will be lost to US-backed forces. It’s now or never.

Dustil schmit

Your logic fails because the turks then would occupy Northern Syria. Wipe out YPG and have something more monstrous in and lose all the resources that are presently being traded with the YPG. Did you know that is the same plan that SAA did to the PKK for Turkish friendship look at how that turned out. If you can’t learn from doing same past mistakes you don’t deserve to run a country.

Dustil schmit

The two countries came to the brink of war when Turkey threatened military action if Syria continued to shelter Abdullah Öcalan in Damascus, his long-time safe haven. Relations have improved since October 1998, when Öcalan was expelled by Damascus and Syria pledged to stop harbouring the PKK militants and the 1999 signing of the Adana agreement, following his subsequent capture in Kenya, envisaged security cooperation between the two countries. http://www.mafhoum.com/press/50P2.htm

Dustil schmit

Russia does not want SAA to fight YPG and vice versa, they want them to come to an agreement and end the war faster then what you are saying can become could get very very messy and take longer to end this war.

CyricRenner

Do you have any sources to back up these claims ? Not aware Russia was involved in Yemen at all. Not that this is a bad thing though. What Saudi Arabia is doing to Yemen is criminal beyond belief and of course the world is silent about it. The UK should be brought up on war crimes charges for knowingly selling the Saudis cluster bombs.

Saudi Arabia despite all its high tech toys is the most incompetent armed forces I have ever seen. The Houthis strike into Saudi Territory with ease. If Iran and Russia wanted too they could bring the Saudi regime to its knees by supplying the Houthis with decent equipment and especially air defense weapons. The Saudi oil fields which are all located in the East could quickly be occupied and that would be an end to this horrible monarchy.

Qatar are Saudi Arabia are the two main suppliers of the terrorists in Syria, yet they are so vulnerable themselves. Its amazing that they suffer no consequences for their actions.

Solomon Krupacek

:))))) :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

PZIVJ

Don’t laugh so hard Solomon! You need to just take a deep breath and relax. We all understand crazy. :)

Jesus

Why is it difficult to advance 150 kms when you have superior armor and full air control? Consider Africa Corps, barely 2-3 divisions outfoxxing numerically superior British forces in N. Africa and advancing almost 1000 miles on meager resources. From the SF write up and analysis there are over 200,000 regular and irregular troops fighting for the Syrian side, without Russians included. Tiger forces, 5th corps and another 35-40,000 regular and irregular troops would do the job.

Ezwat Binsalah

I think its difficult because the isis rats have been in the deserts from the very beginning of the war. So they have put these roads full of IEDS , and that will slow the advance. And don’t forget it’s a 150 km long road in the desert. Its difficult to defend the road because they will sneak in at night from those desert hills and launch a supprise attacks. The SAA has multiple fronts where they need manpower. And letting soldiers defend an empty 150 km road is a waste of manpower. But I don’t see an other option to lift the siege at Deir azzour. Let’s hope for the best

Jesus

You do not have to be confined to the road, SAA can advance with several columns in a parallel formation and on a 50 mile front and sweep ISUS out of the way. You advance on a path they do not expect you, the terrain is relatively open, night time attacks are possible if they would have the proper equipment, and get lucky. iSIS units are small and relatively poorly equipped, if SAA units stay within close proximity of each other ISIS will be caught in cross fires.

Bill Wilson

The terrain on either side of the highway to Deir Azzor is rugged with no road network to speak of except a few that dead end at drilling exploration sites. The Tiger Force and SAA should have a field day eliminating ISIS fighters trying to halt their advance along the road with their truck mounted pop guns.

PZIVJ

Good to hear that the desert terrain is somewhat rugged. This will work against ISUS. No doubt that they have lost most of their bulldozers, etc. Hope that their road network (what is left of it) is falling apart. One of ISUS main strengths was mobility and surprise. NO MORE!!

Jesus

I was looking at the map of the area, elevations along the road going east vary between 0-500 meters for most part, for a significant part, similar terrain FSA has to deal north of Jordan. At one point they need to pivot their RH flank to interdict the FSA advance towards Eufrates.

Barba_Papa

The Africa Corps had A: Rommel, one of the most brilliant tactical corps commanders of the 20th century, and B: two additional corps worth of Italian troops to back them up. So it wasn’t exactly a 2-3 divisions, Rommel had a full 3 corps army at his disposal. Now, the Italians may not have been quite of the same quality as his German troops, but they did allow him to plug up a wider front and serve as a meatshield while his Africa Corps could move in position and counter attack.

The analogy falls apart though because Rommel and the Africa Corps served and fought at the height of Germany’s power in WWII. The SAA on the other hand has been fighting non-stop for 7 years and is but a shadow of its former self. In that sense this offensive is more like the Ardennes Offensive, where the German army had been battered and spent, with most of its forces bled white and an odd hotchpotch of new units and formations in the Waffen SS and Volkssturm assisting and supplanting the old Wehrmacht.

Jesus

True, Rommel had Italian forces available, as far as my remembrance of historical events, Rommel executed a war of maneuver, (blitzkrieg) while the Italians were of the same mindset as France, England, where tanks were mingled with infantry, instead of being a concentrated group for maneuver purposes. Had not Hitler insisted on the Stalingrad fiasco and deployed several Panzer divisions to North Africa, Al Alemein would have been a German victory and Suez Canal under German control. As far as the Syrian situation, Syrian army has been reinforced and reequipped, new units have been created, and the future looks rather promising. The SAA is undergoing a rebirth and is becoming more capable, and manpower requirements will not be much an issue in the future.

CyricRenner

Shadows of its former self, yet from a fighting capacity it is at least competent now.

NeoLeo

The real problem here are flanks, those 200k or so are mostly reservists tied up defending long frontlines (and they still have to defend them, these de-escalation zones are fantasy). So, there are not many quality, mobile troops available, and not enough troops to cover the flanks of advancing force moving from Palmyra to Deirezzor.

Jesus

You have the tiger forces along with the 5th corps that have a high combat proficiency, at least 15-17,000, plus whatever other troops are assigned to this task I do not believe ISIS can concentrate any significant force to threaten the flanks, if they do, they will be easy targets for gunship and Tu22 attacks. Their tank force is limited and obsolete against the T-72 and T90 tanks, their technicals will not be a match in a pitched battle at ranges beyond 1000 meters.

Rommel as he advanced and got close to Alexandria he lost his air support, had to contend with long logistical lines, lacked the new equipment to replace the lost ones, while the British compacted their logistical lines and deepened their defense had ample air cover and a steady flow of equipment coming from US.

Concrete Mike

Your right, its like the boys Say in Thé hockey Room after à couple beers, “just remember for every mile of road , There are 2 miles of ditch”.replace ditch with flank, and voilà!!!hockey wisdom saves the World again lol.

I also agréé 100% with what you Said thank you

Tudor Miron

What I’ve heard is more like 100000 of battle ready forces and those are not all that real battle ready – not all of them.

Bill Wilson

There’s nothing out there but rough terrain on either side of that highway so ISIS will be stuck defending the pavement. To the south, the US/FSA has cut off ISIS from using the few roads leading west from Mayadin and along the river with plans to take control of a section along the west bank to prevent ISIS traffic in both directions. The highway along the east bank runs thru a desolate area with steep gullied hills to the east. The US probably has cratered that stretch to render it impassable for the same reason. ISIS is being sliced and diced into pockets that few if none escape routes. The ISIS units still in the west and north won’t have anywhere to run to once the SAA has control of the Palmyra to Deir Azzor Highway.

MeMadMax

It is the desert surrounding deir ezzor that the final death nail of isis will be finally hammered in…

IFFighter

Al-Aqrabat? Where’s it? Can’t find.

mark123456

Uqayribat, its near soha and abu hanaya. Northwest of palmyra, northwest of shaer and mahr gasfields – east of salamiyah, basically the most northwestern part of that homs/hama isis salient.

Bill Wilson

Isn’t that town/village on the highway crossing down to Palmyra? ISIS did control a slew of villages in that region but might of withdrawn from there to Mayadin so now the SAA is moving in to see who was left behind. That will be a handy highway for redeploying troops back towards Idlib and Aleppo once ISIS is backed into corner south of Deir Azzor.

PZIVJ

Uqayribat is or was the main ISUS strong point in the area. Only 1 road remaining for escape (or maybe not). No more supplies coming from the Euphrates caliphate for sure ! :)

mark123456

No, uqayribat is still firmly under ISIS control, It’s a huge thorn in SAA’s side and been for years and its part of why palmyra and shaer gas fields were harassed and constantly retaken back and forth for 4 years.

When they (SAA) moved and took shaer gas fields last week, there was talk of them cutting off the salient by going all the way up north of that map. So if you know where shaer is, trace a line all the way north and all that black space in the map to the west of it, between the two ‘red’ areas of SAA, is the ISIS east hama salient of uqayribat and abu hanaya / soha / abu hubaylat etc. The SAA have launched an unsuccesful mini offensive towards it last month and it was here on SF. And this week or the last they went northeast of furqalas to the shumriya mountains and took it and some villages, that happens to be south of jubb al jarrah which is also south of this salient of uqayribat. There is talk of them advancing towards uqayribat from this defense line while another unit cuts them off north of shaer, while tigers move east to sukhnah.

Here, you can see the map I spoke of, the most recent one after they took shaer mountain:

https://southfront.org/military-situation-in-countryside-of-palmyra-on-may-3-2017-map-update/

Pave Way IV

They shouldn’t have announced this. CENTCOM and the CJTF-OIR cronies will be spying on the SAA with drones 24×7 and feeding satellite imagery and SIGINT to ISIS like they always have.

The US would make the world believe head-choppers are able to do sophisticated operational planning and react to fast-moving battlefield situations with cell phones and Google Earth. Nothing is further from the truth. The US makes sure ISIS has every last bit of intelligence available to kill as many Syrian soldiers as possible. “The enemy of my enemy…” and all.

The Pentagon is filled with cowardly neocon psychopaths acting in the interests of foreign nations. They mock the U.S. Constitution by showing up for work every day.

Attrition47

The Syrians and Russians know this so will be using it. I have been waiting for a few weeks now for a Syrian-Russian riposte to the Hama distraction and the no-fly coup is part of it. Not sure with what it will coincide.

Free man

The Americans have two main goals in the region: 1. Destroy ISIS . 2. Curb Iran’s influence in the region. You can like them or hate them but that’s what they are doing.

Richard Einstein

Israel and the USA command, supply, arm and finance ISIS. Why would they want to destroy their own forces? That is an insane statement.

Iran has not attacked another nation in over 200 years, it is Israel who cannot go 6 months without attacking their neighbors or committing mass genocide against neighbors and the Palestinians who they stole all of their land from.

There will never be peace in the world as long as Rothschild’s military base known as Israel exists, committing endless terrorist attacks worldwide.

Bill Wilson

You’re a fucking idiot.

Free man

People like you in Iran will hate the United States anyway. Whether the US will fight ISIS or not. When Rouhani slamed Yesterday the ‘saboteurs’ of nuclear deal he meant people like you. And about what you wrate about Israel, why doesn’t Iran do anything about it ? How many Iranian officers did Israel kill in the Golan this last year? Antisemitic remarks will not kill Israelis ;-)

Daniel Rich

@ Free-man,

A little correction: Antisemitic [all Arabs, Muslims and Palestinians fully excluded].

You’re flogging the carcass of a very dead hobby horse here..

Free man

Check the dictionary again. You are right about Arabs but you are not about Muslims in general (Iranians or Azharis are not for example). I am generally against generalizations and hatred based on prejudice .

Real Anti-Racist Action

Muslims is just a religion, not an ethnicity. All Jews could convert to Muslims, and then they would be Muslims of Hebrew or Khazar decent. Iranian is a Nationalist consisting of ethnic-Hebrews and Persians and Arabs and so forth. (Yes tens of thousands of Jews live in Iran today) Persian is the main ethnicity in Iran, and they are among the most tolerant people in the world. And they hold their Jewish population in high regard, going all the way back to the Persian King Darius and the Hebrew Daniel were best of friends. Iran is pro God’s House of Zion, but God Himself is anti-Zionist. Zionism is the polar opposite of God’s House of Zion.

King Darius king of Persia was the son of Hystaspes, of the royal family of the Achaemenidae. Just a little foot note about Persian-Hebrew good relations dating back thousands of years and continues till this day. Zionism is of Lucifer, designed to bring about the Mark Of The Beast.

Jacek Wolski

Iranian 2011 General Census Results stipulates that only 8 756 Jewish people live in Iran. Mathematics not your strong point?

Real Anti-Racist Action

Semitic means you are a descendant of Shem from the bible. Noah has three Sons, Japeth (Japethites). Shem (Shemites). Ham (Hamites) Shemitic peoples are Chinese, Palestinians, Arabs, Hebrews, Turks, Khazars, Egyptians, Jordanians, Pakistanis and so on. The most antishemitic people in the world are Jews, who are antishemitic against the shemitic Palestinians and Arabs and so forth.

Mikronos

It ain’t about hating America, that’s still a great idea for humanity. It’s about hating some Americans – the one’s currently running the place into the ground.

Jacek Wolski

“Iran has not attacked another nation in over 200 years” Disseminating ‘alternative’ history?

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Can you name the nation that Iran has attacked? Are you referring to Greece, about 400 BC? On the other hand, how many nations have been invaded by the violent and expansionist US, which was built on stolen lands and the sweat and murder of African slaves?

Jacek Wolski

Maths must not be your strong point, but I’ll forgive you. Humans make mistakes but they won’t own up to them. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://online.sfsu.edu/mroozbeh/Articles/p-Russian-Iranian-War.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwiZ6anvxd3TAhUFJ5QKHWZYAfsQFgg8MAM&usg=AFQjCNGbA9UGWkYsA85GZ3sZ3ZJl4E3s1g&sig2=Pb2Ocjmq9MjGMj_zcp7dRQ

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Aaah! Something from the 19th century! You must be a real IGNORANUS regarding history, dear. Do have any idea how many nations the US, you master, has attacked since 1826? Right now there is military action against several countries: Syria, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen. How do you enjoy sucking up to the violent and expansionist Yanks, dear???

Jacek Wolski

Who said I was sucking up to the Yanks my little man child VeeNerian? I was only correcting your mistake as you clearly specified “Iran has not attacked another nation in over 200 years” Are you still disputing this?

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Come on, Poland sucks up to the Yanks everyday. The Russian Empire has been expanding against the Persian and Ottoman Empires for centuries. That is how Azerbaijan became part of Russia and then USSR. That does not mean Iran/Persia is the aggressor. Now, why don’t you man up and admit how you suck up to the Yanks? We have many such servile types in the British elite. You will be in good company, dear. I promise! Suck! Suck!! Suck!!!

Jacek Wolski

Lol! I’m not Polish! Just because I have a Polish sounding name makes me an automatic Polak? Don’t judge the book by its cover. And neither am I an American. FYI I support what the SAA and the Russian Aerospace Forces are doing and have achieved in the last 2 years. I only hope they will finnaly accomplish victory in the next 5 years and kick ISIS , Al-Nusra, FSA etc. to the kerb.✌

Have a lovely day

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Iran has been called a terrorist nation when it was Saudi hijackers, financed by Saudi money and brainwashed by Saudi Wahabist facshit ideology, who murdered 3000 on 9/11. I assumed too much from your Polish sounding name. I do support Polish independence, just as I support UK and Indian independence. I too support the SAA against the ISIS/Al-Queda headchoppers. Apologies! Have a nice day, Jacek!

Wahid Algiers

You are right. No further comment.

gustavo

Amricans are the creator of ISIS….documentation are available in CIA and Pentagon reports. You might wonder ¿ why USA would destroy its own creation ? Well, just remember Osama Bin Laden (CIA member), Sadam Husein (friend of USA during Irak-Inran war), Rafael Noriega (CIA member in Panama). Are those enough or you need more examples ?

Free man

Gustavo , there is no documentation in the CIA or the Pentagon reports to show that the Americans created ISIS. This is an argument that fits the narrative but not reality.

Ronald

As a “Free man” , you should educate yourself . Read the documentation , CIA and Pentagon reports in “Wikileaks Files” , published in 2015 , by J. Assange . No American official has denied the authenticity of those documents .

Free man

I can not say I read these reports. I refer to what I see on the ground. I try to be free of prejudices.

Ronald

“Try to be free from prejudices” is a good start . America claims to be “fighting terrorists” , when in fact they have created them . Al Qaeda in Afhanistan , Pres. Bush ,(Senior) and Saudi King . ISIS ,by G. Bush (Jr.). Created in order to have a justifiable reason to be there (we are the good guy’s fighting the bad) Americas objective is to destroy Shia Lebanon , Iraq and Syria , all in order to lay waste to Iran . Iran is the Shia Islamic powerhouse . America has taken the Wahhabi Sunni’s of Saudi Arabia and Qatar as allies . Trump is inking a multi billion dollar weapons deal with them right now .. With Iran laid waste , Russia is next .

Free man

How does that fit with the fact that the United States is fighting with Iraq, and her Shiite government, against a Sunni organization? Reality is more complex than you think.

Ronald

Reality is the Iraqi government has politely asked the Americans to leave after Mosul has been liberated , the US responded by announcing that they would likely be staying into the foreseeable future . The objective is Iran. Iranians are Caucasian , not Arab , a little too fiercely free . John Brennan CIA director under Obama , was a convert to Saudi Wahhabi Islam . Huma Abedin , Hillary Clinton’s personal assistant was also Wahhabi Sunni is not the problem , 60% of Syria’s army is Sunni , 20% Shia and 20 % Christian . Wahhabi / Salafist Islam is the problem . 99% of ISIS , Al Qaeda , Al Nusra , the Taliban are all Wahhabi Sunni’s .

Free man

Americans should leave the area as soon as ISIS is defeated. For the benefit of the region and for their own good. As for the rest, reality in the Middle East is complex and I agree that the problem is the jihadists who fight anyone who disagrees with their interpretation of Islam.

Dustil schmit

Lose lose situation, because another ISIS can rise again and be blamed for that and be blamed for staying.

Concrete Mike

In other words, your mind is made up already, you dont care about new information? I suggest you be more objective, otherwise it shows your on a script.

Free man

I’d love to see new information. Writing that there is new information does not mean there is.

Jasminko Grdic

You don’t need to read…take a look a t pic and all you see… 2013 was born ISIS at this metting Open Google and type CIA fund ISIS..you will get tousand links…it’s imposible that all are fake, or live in your dream world

Joe Doe

Roland, Looks like Free Man is american sheep, trying spread fake information

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

I really find it disgusting and barbaric that the US supports the very ilk in Syria that murdered 3000 on 9/11. What kind of corrupt “leaders” does the US have these days? Are they all bought by dirty Saudi money??? How does it feel to dance on the graves of 3000 murdered Americans and many people from dozens of countries around the world? What a display of pure barbarism and greed!

Free man

The Americans claim that they are bombing Al Qaeda in Syria, Yemen and in general. On the other hand, I was also disgusted when I heard who were the terrorists involved in ninth eleventh. And it is known that state leaders are sometimes motivated by cynical interests.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

The 9/11 terrorists were Saudi, financed by Saudi, brainwashed by Saudi wahabist facshit ideology, and yet it was Iraq and Afghanistan that was invaded? How does that work? It was Saudi that should have been to made to pay a terrible price for their barbaric medieval ideology and bombed back to the Stone Age. The US leaders must be in the pay of the Saudis. How does it feel to be ruled by such corrupt, greedy and murderous “leaders”?

Free man

I agree with you about Saudi Arabia. I’m not an American citizen.

Bill Wilson

The US also shares intel about ISIS with the SAA and the Russians along with their planned operations with the SDF and FSA against them.

MeMadMax

Yeah…

And I got a bridge to sell ya too…

>_>

Free man

If it is a toll bridge with a state guarantee, it can be interesting (-;

Lotr Tales

You can ask yourself a question. And why didnt they destroyed ISIS 3 years ago?

Free man

I have no doubt that one of the reasons ISIS has become a big force in the Middle East is US mistakes in Iraq. And it’s also true that until recently almost no one really fought them. Everyone thought cynically that ISIS would serve there purposes. All this does not change the fact that the United States is currently fighting ISIS.

De

So what do you mean by “US didn’t create ISIS ?” if you aknowledge they were the result “creation” of the direct actions of US in middleast ? that they proliferated due to their candid and tacit support actions throughout the middleast ?

stop defending these criminals actions ; imho, the american people deserve more than that !

Free man

I do not want to defend, here, the past actions of the US in the Middle East, the Americans have a tendency to use force and if it didn’t work to use more force. The Americans and Shiites in Iraq pushed the Sunnis aside and were not prepared to add some of them to the new Iraqi army, after the Second Gulf War. This, in my opinion, led to the strengthening of Al Qaeda, from which ISIS grew. Because some of Saddam Hussein’s officers joined al-Qaeda and then ISIS.

Tudor Miron

Nah :) People can’t be that naive. Perfect example of “caleidoscopic” view that zio-nazi masters try to sell us as hystory for so long now. One takes some events that actually happened – rips it out of context (space and time) and than interprets that event in desired way. Reread your post :) than ask yourself – “what happened before that?”, “what happened after?”, “what happened around this place/event in region and world around?” Simply said, look at broader picture (space and time) or if you already did and realise what’s going on, stop pretending that ISIS is a result of some “mistakes” and US is actually fighting them when it is obvious that US is using them as:

1) Irregular force to fight counties unloyal to US/Israel/Saudi/Qatar gang. 2) Reason for their own (US) military presense in the area – again aimed against those anloyal to NWO gang.

Tudor Miron

US mistakes in Iraq??? What do you call mistakes? That stunt in UN with evidence of WMD? Invasion itself? Listen…You should know, that we know, that you know the truth ;) What you call mistakes is nothing more/less than consistent politics of US/NWO in this region with consistent results… till Russia entered the scene and prevented another Ouch! “mistake” result – Syria with destroyed state and in total haos.

Joe Doe

ISIS is america’s creation and proxy fighting american wars

John

Hello Free. I would go with number 2 but, number 1 no. ISIS is a child of US and GCC meddling. Israel gives open support to it, for it’s own reasons. Quite a mess going on over there.

Free man

Hello jone . I’m with you on the mess thing.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Rubbish. Why destroy ISIS, such a useful tools against Syria? Iran must be very grateful to the US for helping them to expand their influence, after the IGNORANT Americans destroyed Saddam’s Iraq. It is time for the US to be entirely driven out of Iraq and Syria, Saigon style.

Free man

I think that some of the American actions in the Gulf war and afterwards in Iraq were the result of ignorance and arrogance. Apparently now they are trying to atone by fighting ISIS.

Mikronos

Curbing Iran means first taking down any support Iran has in the region. You will note that the current area is in Syria, not Iran – so Syria needs to be removed from Iranian’s ‘influence’ by its total destruction.

Yemen is getting the same treatment – not because of Iran as much as the thorn it has become in the side of Saudi interests. Yet Iran started none of this – the USA destabilized first Afghanistan, then Iraq, then Libya, then Yemen, Syria was destabilized next and ISIS established, which resulted in another destabilization of Iraq. After that Iran became more involved.

In all of these the only constants, for America, are ISIS …. and Iran … the former controlled by the US through its ‘Gulf allies’ and the other which isn’t neither a friend nor an ally.

Tudor Miron

Americans have one and only goal in the region: Control and keep raping entire region while inflicting haos and distruction. Yes, curbing Irans influence is one of the incremental goals – Americans still can’t comprehand how come Iranians have more influence in Iraq after all that happened :) Saying that they (US) are destroying their own irregular army (ISIS) only shows that either you’re biased or …no, people can’t be that clueless, so I do think that you’re just biased.

Free man

So you think American citizens are really stupid. Their government finances / equips ISIS and also fights ISIS. Maybe you’re biased? Perhaps you interpret reality according to your world view?

Jesus

What is a hobbled ISIS going to do with that information? Are Russians not able to interdict with EW capabilities to frustrate CJTF-OIR?

Dustil schmit

The rebels rejected the safe zones and SAA can’t muster enough troops for this operation because of that.

CyricRenner

One these pockets are eliminated this should free up more than enough man power. The road to Deir-ezzor looks like wide open terrain. ISIS or any other group will get hammered from the air.

Barba_Papa

I doubt that the Pentagon needs an official announcement to deduce that the SAA is going to launch an offensive towards Deir Ezzor again.

And we should do well not to underestimate the technical savvy of the headchoppers. Just because they want to live in the 7th century doesn’t mean they don’t know how to use the tools of the 21st century.

LaserEye

I don’t see anything on MoD twitter about this. Anyone got a link?

The sooner the better. SAA should take advantage of the fact that ISIS are fighting for their lives in Raqqah. Thus the forces of ISIS are split.

The US terrorists will find an overt or covert way to assist ISIS against this offensive, like they assisted them last Decembet when the terrorists almost overran Palmyra and Deiz Ezzor.

Ronald

Half that number would do it . Apparently the Syrians and Russians feel the need to tell the enemy what they are going to do before they act . Just roll right by Sukhnah , nothing there , as you said so well , “it’s primordial”.

Stephen

Russian safe zones idea in Syria is an excellent intelligent move. It will allow SAA and its allies to wipe out all proxies and spies of foreign countries from Syrian land.

Joe Doe

If the SAA plan is go east of Palmyra on the first face of the offensive they could be going for trap. Further, SAA would be behind theirs capability to defend all the area. The SAA has to liberate all north of Palmyra, before advancing east.

Everybody believe US helping Iss in battlefield that was the reason Is launched air attack on SAA who were tried to decimated the Iss hence they said it was a mistake , but obviously it was not a mistake they just intentioned. US aims is to help ISS.

IS – Islamic State is still in place after 24,000+++ Air Bombing Sorties by the Russian Air Group and 70,000+++ Air Bombing Sorties by the “Terror Axis” in Syria.

The “Terror Axis” is led by the USA, UK, France, NATO, Turkey, Saudi, Qatar, etc, who are unlawful facilitators of Terrorism in Syria and other countries by unlawfully financing, arming and training terrorists as well as unlawful oil and weapons trafficking and unlawful trading with terrorists.

william serrahn

It’s been a long time in coming. The American led OIR jet jockeys let hundreds of ISIS drive up the M20 unmolested to retake Palmyra in December. That coupled with the bombing of the SAA garrison holding Deir Ezzor airport in September has to make you wonder how strong America’s commitment to destroy ISIS really is. As far as the SAA battling for Sukhnah, it’s not necessary. They can simply bypass the ISIS garrison there and move directly down to Deir Ezzor. It’s all desert. The Russians can have a turkey shoot clearing the highway.

william serrahn “….The American led OIR jet jockeys let hundreds of ISIS drive up the M20 unmolested to retake Palmyra in December….”

This was the fault of both the Russian Military and the Syrian Military who failed in intelligence gathering of the terrorists, their assets and movements and allowed approx 4,500 terrorists to capture Palmyra v2 by driving unhindered across the desert from Mosul, in December 2016.

The 4,500 convoy of terrorists would have used approx 450 vehicles, “Pickup Trucks”, 10 terrorists per truck.

Not one single truck was targeted whatsoever.by the Russian Air Group as it drove across 200+ Km of highway with no checkpoints whatsoever from the Syrian Military.

This indicates that the Russian Military is allowing terrorists to control certain areas and regions and the Syrian Military has no effective Command and Control or Battleplan in place.

Xanatos

It is dangerous to leave so many fronts open to charge towards deir ezzor.

It is dangerous to charge towards deir ezzor when you have invincible air forces aiming to destroy you. Yes i’m talking about those F35s that russian air defenses can do nothing against.

Palmyra has been hit by this air force, every point east of Palmyra will be hit too.

Isis east of damascus has israeli advisors, and they have attacked palmyra from the southern direction before.

PZIVJ

If Israeli advisers are so good, why is Daesh about to be destroyed? Maybe ISUS is still waiting for that re supply mission that will never show up !!!

PZIVJ “…If Israeli advisers are so good, why is Daesh about to be destroyed?…”

Please remind everyone how many Air Bombing Sorties have been conducted against “Daesh” better known as ISIS?

ISIS – Israeli State and Islamic State is still in place after 24,000+++ Air Bombing Sorties by the Russian Air Group and 70,000+++ Air Bombing Sorties by the “Terror Axis” in Syria.

Israel is a formidable enemy, Winston Churchill said the unthinkable will happen when a criminal nation acquires its own country.

Israel is the Hydra, a multi headed serpent which controls the “Terror Axis” the state sponsors of terrorists and terrorism.

Ask the Georgians about Israeli advisors

John Mason

Good one Kell, it was slaughter by the Russians.

More

Kell “…Ask the Georgians about Israeli advisors…”

Not the same.

The Russians were fighting the Gruzee and destroyed them.

Its tougher for the Syrian Military fighting ISIS – Israeli State and Islamic State.

Tudor Miron

Xanatos, if you really believe that F35 is invincible and Russian air defences can do nothing against them it only says that you know very little about technical aspects of stealth technology, F-35 in particular and air defence is even less understood. There’s enough open information available on the web that you can find to teach yourself about RCS (various aspects) and how things actually work.

Sukhnah is the main objective for now, and it isn’t very far from Palmyra. The SAA won’t face anything like the troop concentrations, dug in positions, short supply lines and quality of N-Hama. From Sukhnah you can control Arak fields and T3 airbase. In addition SAA presence in Sukhnah will be a constant threat to IS in Deir Ezzor. Even without reaching D-E itself if they can get to ground to ground missile and artillery range IS supply lines, rear movements, and redeployments will be constantly harassed. This will strengthen D-E defence. When IS gets dislodged from Sukhnah they have nowhere to run but East all the way to Deir Ezzor – under hunting Sukhois! They will all be driving suicide trucks.

Hrky75

I still think eliminating the salient south of Ithria and north of Palmira and gaining al Busayri crossroads if essential to cover the flanks of any meaningful push towards Der Ezzor. First rule of desert warfare – shorten the supply lines and cover the flanks at all times……

The best place to start a Offensive is https://globaleventmap.org/#!area=1&overview=1&lat=35.712881947930875&lng=39.85876460494684&zoom=15&map_type=hybrid The Highway from Allepo to Hasakah is open and should be used…

Next move is for sure teh AL Sukhnah highway and the next is Kanasher – AL Tabgah

We have a 190km road ahead of us, Godspeed SAA!

Cheryl Brandon

The SAA needs to attack the USA/Kurds troops as well! Hezbollah can do a great job; If they scare the Israeli army; They can do the same with the USA imperial GOONS who are squatting illegally in Syria.
