On Sunday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) captured Khirbat Juiyad and Abu Lafa villages in the northeastern Hama countryside, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria.
The Hezbollah media wing added that the SAA killed 30 fighters of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), and destroyed several HTS vehicles in Khribat Juiyad, Abu Lafa and Tall al-Hawa villages. Three commanders of HTS Anas Abu Malek, Abu Abdullah Taftanaz and Nour al-Shami were among the fighters who were killed by the SAA.
Meanwhile, the HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that HTS fighters captured Msheirfeh village in the northeastern Hama countryside from ISIS. Iba’a also said that HTS fighters captured 3 vehicles of ISIS in Msheirfeh.
According to Syrian opposition sources, only Uniq, Tautah and Hujilah villages in the area are now under the ISIS control. The sources added that the three villages are now besieged by HTS from all directions.
The ongoing clashes between the SAA and HTS will likely escalate once ISIS is defeated.
