Syrian troops, backed up by the country’s air force, have continued their advances against the Islamic State terrorist group, which is besieging the main military airport in Deir ez-Zor province.
On Friday, the Syrian Army, backed up by the country’s air force, continued its military operation against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group in the province of Deir ez-Zor, aimed on lifting of the siege of the city’s military airport.
Positions of the IS terrorists, stationed near the Deir ez-Zor cemetery, were hit by artillery and missile units of the Syrian Army. As a result, the terrorist group suffered heavy losses.
At the same time, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force pounded IS positions on the hilltop 17 near the Tharda mountain, located in the southern part of Deir ez-Zor. Five military positions and two vehicles of the terrorist group were destroyed, while several members of the IS were killed.
Positions of the IS in al-Ma’amel region were also targeted by artillery and missile units of the Syrian Army, which managed to destroy a storehouse of weapons of terrorists.
On Thursday, after several hours of fierce clashes, Syrian troops managed to repel an offensive of the IS, launched on army’s positions in al-Sina region near the Deir ez-Zor airbase. As a result, more than 30 terrorists were killed and twice more number of them were wounded, as well as two their military vehicles were destroyed. Terrorists were forced to retreat from the battlefield.
On Wednesday, gatherings of the IS terrorists, stationed in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor near the city’s military airport, were struck by Syrian troops. As a result, at least nine terrorists, including several non-Syrians, were killed, and their plans for an imminent offensive on the airbase were disrupted. The IS was forced to retreat from the battlefield in order to avoid more casualties.
On Tuesday, the Syrian Army and the country’s air force intensified attacks on concentration centers of the IS near and inside the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor. Terrorists suffered heavy losses, while their military hardware was seriously damaged.

Lines have not moved much, but airfield was resupplied several days ago by successful air drop. ISUS is being pressured at four different fronts now in Syria. I don’t think they can sustain this Deir Ezzor offensive for very long. Let them bite the dust in the open desert. Easier to bomb them in this terrain. Throw some napalm on those heights!
