The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Iranian-backed forces are amassing a large strike force in the southern countryside of Idlib, according to opposition sources.
On May 29, opposition sources said large reinforcements of the army and its allies arrived in the cities of Saraqib and Ma`arat al-Nu`man as well as the Zawiya Mountain.
The sources also reported an increase in reconnaissance sorties over Greater Idlib. Syrian and Russian warplanes patrol the region on a regular basis. Nevertheless, no airstrikes have been carried out so far.
The SAA’s 25th Division, previously known as the Tiger Forces, and Lebanon’s Hezbollah maintain a strong presence in Greater Idlib.
Militants’ violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib are increasing. In the last two days, heavy clashes broke out in the region’s southern part.
The SAA usually responds to any violation in Greater Idlib with artillery and anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). Some drone strikes also targeted prominent militants in the region.
The deployment of additional reinforcements in Greater Idlib could be a defense measure. Nevertheless, the possibility of a new military operation in the region is high. Turkey is yet to fulfill its commitments under the March 5 agreement with Russia.

As I have written here for a long time, there is no military solution for Idlib / northern Syria and eastern Syria. Russia should lead a political process that will safeguard the Turkish interest in northern Syria and safeguard the US interest in eastern Syria. So that the Turks and the Americans get their forces out of Syria. But unfortunately we are probably approaching a bloody battle in Idlib. One that might endanger Assad’s rule in other parts of Syria.
You might be right. But facts only shows Russia is not able to make any improvements a part for making jobs for undertakers and building condtructers.

I agree in Your reflexions about Idlib. It reminds me about the old wargame movie. There were no winners unless they paid games, where no one could win.
All the areas like Daraa, Quneitra, as Suwayda, southern Deir ez Zor and parts of western Aleppo would likely reignite again if open hostilities between Turkey and Syria started, and that’s a recipe for a real bloodbath, so I don’t think Assad would be stupid enough to launch an attack and risk that, I think these are just defensive measures, or perhaps just the start of a limited operation against the designated terrorist elements.
Those ominous ‘Russian’ jets without markings might get Syrian markings soon…

I am so tired of reading “reinforcements”. Assads hardly has any. Assads and others replace the troops they havemn that the frontline soldiers get some rest and a bed for regaining and less traumatized.
If its true there are reinforcments fir real they are not parashuted as dead people from heaven but ARRIVED FROM.
Turkey’s way too busy consolidating it’s military fortifications to bother about the M4 right now, they have very different priorities to Syria and Russia.
