Units of the Syrina Arab Army (SAA) shelled positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in the town of Arinba in southern Idlib and in the town of Kafr Zita in northern Hama, the country’s state-run news agency SANA reported on June 17.
According to SANA’s reporter, the SAA detected and targeted a military column of militants in the surroundings of Kafr Sajna destroying several vehicles and causing casualties among members of militant groups.
Despite the formal start of a ceasefire in the area last week, the situation on the frontline remained tense. On June 16, Jaysh al-Izza announced that its fighters had targeted a supposed “Russian base” near the town of al-Kabariyah in northern Hama with a salvo of rockets. Military sources told SouthFront that some Russian advisors may be deployed near al-Kabariyah. However, there is no “Russian base” in the town or near it.
On the same day, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham shelled SAA positions in northern Hama with improvised rocket-assisted munitions.
