On Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery force shelled positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Ayn Tarma area and Jobar district east of the Syrian capital Damascus, according to pro-government sources.

The SAA also shelled HTS positions in Beit Nayem town in the southern part of the Eastern Ghouta region and Harasta district in the northern part of the region.

Moreover, the HTS-linked news agency Iba’a claimed that Syrian helicopters conducted strikes on Bit Jin town in the Western Ghouta region. According to pro-government sources, the Syrian helicopters targeted HTS positions in the town.

In a separated development, the Syrian Military Intelligence raided a house that contained a weapons cache in Serghaya town north of Damascus city.

The Syrian Military Intelligence found a Konkurs Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) launcher and a Konkurs missile, a Metis-M missile and an undefined Man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) along with different light weapons.

On February 20, 130 fighters from HTS and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) withdrawer from Serghaya to Idlib governorate according to a deal with the Syrian government. The fighters likely left the weapons behind so FSA or HTS cells can use them in operations against SAA later.

I fear that terrorist caches of weapons will be a long term problem in Syria and Iraq.
