The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues its operation to secure the countryside of Palmyra.
On April 5, the SAA captured the southwestern side of the strategic Al-Muzabed mountain northeast of Palmyra city. This mountain overlooks the Arak gas field located east of the ancient city. Few days ago the SAA also reached the gates of Al-Shaer, Jazal and Al-Maher gas fields .
Meanwhile, the ISIS-linked news agency ‘Amaq’ released photos of ISIS fighters defending their positions around Al-Shaer and Al-Maher gas fields. The agency didn’t report any causalities among pro-government forces.
Russian and Syrian warplanes carried out a large number of airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Arak field, near the around Aintar mountain, the Al-Tlelah cross point, the Quarries area, the old ammo storage base north and east of Palmyra.
A fresh ANNA report showed the SAA using the Russian TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system to target ISIS fortifications in the countryside of Palmyra.

According to pro-government sources, the SAA are aiming to capture Al-Shaer, Al-Maher, Arak and Jazal gas fields until the end of April. The SAA may head towards Sukhnnah later this year in the first phase of a possible operation to break the ISIS siege of Deir Ezzor.

I really thought that thing would be an actual flamethrower that spews a constant stream of fire, not a missile launcher. Anyhow, good job SAA!
Much more effective than what was used in the Pacific against Japan forts. Missiles are thermobaric and can wipe out many Jihadi scum bags at long range. A fuel air explosive that can suck out O2 from their hideouts! The concussion is devastating.
