AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) began a new military operation in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Thursday, targeting the Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) controlled villages of Hawsh Al-Dawahra and Midaani.
Led by the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army began their attack from the nearby villages of Hawsh Nasr and Mayda’a, striking Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses with heavy artillery before storming Al-Dawahra and Midaani.
According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army captured approximately 700 meters worth of territory between Hawsh Al-Dawahra and Al-Shifuniyah, as they attempt to split-up these Jaysh Al-Islam towns from one another.
The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAYF) is helping out with the occasional airstrike every hour; however, they are not necessarily needed because the Syrian Army’s tanks are steadily advancing without air cover.
