On August 22, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces successfully continued their operation against ISIS and liberated Dahr Hamra, Latum Ghabiri, Souq, Qasr Hayr Sharqi and Kuwayr in the province of Homs.
On August 23, the Tiger Forces developed momentum in the Zaheq Mount area west of Dahr Matla. They need to secure the entire mountain to close the pocket. Separately the SAA advanced in the northern direction from Sukhna and seized Wadi Abu Zillah.
The gap between the government-held areas north of Sukhna and south of Taybah are now about 5 km.
Media also speculate that the Tiger Forces seized Rujm al Hajanah and Jabal Dabbah in the direction of Deir Ezzor.

Interesting development, most likely the two pockets, one with a valve, will be secured first now. With that, hopefully finished soon, reaching Deir Ezzor finally becomes a real proposition. It would slice Daesh apart west of the Euphrates and open the gate to the east beyond the river.
Make no mistake SAA, Daesh is not done yet. Cleaning the pocket in the west is mandatory, to keep Al-Qaeda (HTS) and Daesh apart, if they should decide to attack the life line towards Aleppo. We will see how long it takes to kick Daesh out of the difficult terrain. Hopefully it won’t take too long.
Central Syria around Sukhna probably will be more of a fight, even though Tigers are already positioning themselves closer to Deir Ezzor. But Daesh is thrown off balance there. It’s unlikely that they get back on track with SAA pushing ever further.
With Deir Ezzor being reached, Ma’adan would turn to a new pocket, probably being wiped out with SAA advancing alongside the river.
If the 20.000 men for Daesh were true, how much do they have left now, after all these defeats and bombings? There is no chance for Daesh to replace the losses with meaningful reinforcements.
I don’t think ISIS is in it to win anymore. Not for a long time They’re now going for a Nazi style Götterdammerung end battle in Syria and Iraq and probably setting themselves up as some sort of international franchise, like Al-Qaida did. Where they can claim they’re still around just because some local group of thugs decided to become part of their franchise.
Probably the key to preventing their Nazi style Götterdammerung end battle is to keep them off balance. Which it would appear the SAA/Russians/Iranians/Hezbollah are doing. As opposed to the Kurds, the Iraqi army and the US, which seems to be all about going for the big juicy symbolic target and then be suckered in into a war of attrition. Raqqa and Mosul had no real military value, other then symbolic, whereas the real striking power and might of ISIS was not in those cities. And yet the Coalition fell for it hook, line and sinker. Twice! I do wonder if ISIS hopes to finally sucker the SAA into this with Deir Ezzor.

DE is no battle for Daesh, as SAA already has secured positions in the close vicinity and knows very well Daesh positions.
Furthermore, the size of DE does not support a Mosul or Raqqa style battle, already Sukhna proved that it didn’t work. Even worse, DE is split in two big parts, with the middle quite easy to control for the force with advantage.
Probably, one of the reasons why Daesh pushed against SAA at Ma’adan too, as the city is too small for a Mosul like battle.
Anyway, I more expect SAA to connect with the besieged forces first. Only after that, we probably will see the real battle for control over the city being unleashed.

From the published statistics that look like they’re from credible sources. The invaders are getting hit with air strikes on average every hour or less, day after day, week after week. That adds up after a while and doesn’t include surface to surface strikes from artillery, rocket and missile fire. With no money, resupply, reinforcement and probably limited communications. It shouldn’t be surprising that the regime change project is rapidly collapsing in areas with little civilian presence where they’re being or are surrounded and subject to industrial decimation.
With the river to the east providing a natural barrier, most of eastern Syria east of these positions is also isolated and in very similar circumstances. Once these pockets in Homs are cleared and garrisoned and the Syrian government coalition moves east. That area is going to be a repeat of what’s happening now west of these positions where the regime change is rapidly collapsing.

Israel has 100 plus UN and other resolutions against it that it is in violation of, including the recently passed 2334 that partially or completely extinguishes the Balfour Declaration and San Remo Resolution.
