AlMasdarNews reports: DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus this weekend after the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman violated the ceasefire agreement at Jobar.
Led by the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a new assault at Al-Reyhan and the East Ghouta Signal Base, resulting in the capture of the farms located between the aforementioned sites in rural Damascus on Sunday.
According to a military source, the farms captured by the Syrian Arab Army today accumulate to approximately 350 meters of territory in the East Ghouta after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels.
The military source added that approximately 20 Islamist rebels were killed or wounded during the fierce battle near Al-Reyhan.
Most of the fighters from jaysh Al-Islam have now retreated to the town of Al-Reyhan, as they prepare for the upcoming attack by the Syrian Armed Forces.
