On Friday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) captured several buildings east of the al-Manasher roundabout in the southern part of Jobar district east of Damascus, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria. The SAA also destroyed several fortified positions of Faylaq al-Rahman with Syrian-made Golan heavy rockets, according to pro-government sources.
On August 17, Faylaq al-Rahman claimed that more than 30 Syrian soldiers from SAA 4th division were killed as a result of clashes in Jobar district and Ayn Tarma area east of Damascus. Faylaq al-Rahman also claimed that its fighters destroyed a bulldozer and a tank of the 4th division.
Meanwhile, dozens of civilians protested in Saqbah town in the Eastern Ghouta region against Jaysh al-Islam, according to opposition sources. The sources added that the protestors accused Jaysh al-Islam of killing Faylaq al-Rahman fighters.
During the last few days the Eastern Ghouta region witnessed intense clashes between Jaysh al-Islam and a collation of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Faylaq al-Rahman. During these clashes at least three commanders of Jaysh al-Islam were killed .
Some sides in the opposition believe that Jaysh al-Islam is working to eliminate Faylaq al-Rahman in order to impose it full control on the Eastern Ghouta region and securing a good deal with Russia.
Strangely, saa is not using the lessons learned in Aleppo in Damascus CS. Clearly, the numbers of saa attacking the militant strongholds are way too negligible, and their tactics are well understood by militants. They are only attacking the one and only point, and militants can mass their numbers there.
There is no way in hell Jobar or Ayn Tarma will be re-taken like this. 300 kia in last month, with only 2 blocks re-taken. They should end this catastrophe immediately, start digging tunnels, and ask ru for help in preparing a mission.
If they believe the terrorists are losing many more fighters, then it’s a good way to bleed them out.
