On September 30, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) captured several lakes, positions and fortifications in the area of al-Safa north of the governorate of al-Suwayda after killing and injuring several ISIS fighters, according to Sham Hamadan, a reporter for the Syrian News TV.
A day earlier, the SAA supported by warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) advanced in Qabr al-Sheikh Hassan in al-Safa and imposed control of a large area after heavy clashes with ISIS members.
Meanwhile, the ISIS linked news agency Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters repelled an attack on their positions in the heart of al-Safa and killed at least ten soldiers of the SAA. Syrian pro-government sources have not commented on the terrorist group’s claims yet.
The SAA launched its military operation in al-Safa in early August in order to free around 30 civilian hostages who were abducted by ISIS fighters from their homes in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside. Some pro-government sources expert that the military pressure may force the terrorist group to release the hostages soon.
Photos of the newly captured positions in al-Safa:
Treacherous terrain there. I did not realize ISIS was so well dug in on the Al-Safa plateau. Caves for supplies, etc. SAA can not use their mobile firepower there, it’s a tough battle using infantry.
Yes, it is some of the most inhospitable terrain on Earth.
I wonder how the SAA will be able to prevent terror gangs from installing themselves there in the future ?
I would think that has always been an area for fugitives to hide in.
when i watched the photos of that region i realized why the SAA has a slow advance, a little piece of hell on earth
And to think all that time it was marked red on the map it must have been coming under ISIS’direct control…
From what you posted yesterday. Did not know you could read a map Smaug. :)
Goodbye forever.
Too late. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c2322cbd49ca5e7b7e2d2dddb8a38acf3015cc26d7a71d7b661d691dc0da151e.jpg
Lol
argh, I am smiling away here, but that was a wee bit nasty.
Edit – oh sorry, it’s Smaug.
Actually, suspect most people here would like you to be ‘goodbye forever’ from this forum.
Smaug gets his carer to show him and Smaug then grunts and smears his faeces on it.
Makes one wonder where else they are? Well they revealed theselves when they attacked those civilians…not an opposing military unit.
God damned shitty people fight for isis.
very nice SAA! and on my birthday too! :)))
Happy birthday old chap :)
thank you sir! i went to a shooting range with my dad :))
On a CQB range I always found buckshot to the head to be effective and in real life that negates the use of body armor :) Plus, the spread gives a comfortable margin for error .
for sure lol
gr8rambino you are the best of the best, don’t ever stop !
many thanks Ronald :)))

thank you al! very true LOL :)))
Nice with some progress.
You can see why it’s been slow going, that terrain looks like hell, at least the ISIS scum will be acclimatised to their new home when they are finally cleansed.
SAA could use drones to locate abducted civilians and ISIS.
Not really as they are in caves.
