On December 15, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) captured the strategic Syriatel Hill south of the village of Abu Dali in southern Idlib, according to pro-government sources.
Russian warplanes conducted dozens of airstrikes on positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in southern Idlib and northeastern Hama supporting the SAA attack against the terrorist group, according to opposition sources.

Syrian oppositions activists said that the clashes in Syriatel Hill lasted for hours. The activists also revealed that three commander of al-Qaeda in Syria named “Abu Bakr Tawhidi”, “Abu Mohammad Imami” and “Abu Safiah” were killed by the SAA during the clashes in southern Idlib on December 15.
From its side, the news agency Iba’a linked to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) reported that HTS fighters destroyed a tank of the SAA with a rocket-propelled grenade and killed an officer of the SAA during the clashes in Syriatel Hill.

The SAA and its allies will likely launch their attack on the strategic village of Abu Dali in the upcoming days. Abu Dali was captured by HTS on October 8, after a successful surprise attack against government forces.
