Today, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has advanced in the area surrounding Arak gas field east of Palmyra. Yesterday the SAA managed to capture the eastern and north-western Tafaha hills located 20 km northwest of the T4 Station in the eastern Homs countryside.
From its side, ISIS militants have hit two SAA tanks with ATGMs north of the silos area located east of Palmyra.
Warplanes and attack helicopters of the Russian Air Force bmbed ISIS positions and gatherings in the vicinity of the Palmyra silos area, in the town of Sokhna, and across the eastern Homs and Hama countrysides.
ISIS reinforced its positions in the Taliya Reserve, the vicinity of the silos area and Arak gas field in the eastern countryside of Palmyra according to opposition sources.
ISIS is trying to prevent the SAA from reaching the strategic town of Sokhna that ould lead to lifting of the ISIS siege on the SAA in Deir Ezzor. This government victory will also mean a collapse of ISIS in the whole province, especially amid the terrorist group’s setbacks in the Syrian province of Raqqah and in the area of the Iraqi city of Mosul.
reach Deir Ezzor and the the Syrian-Iraqi border should be one of the priority task. The government should have a border with the allied Iraq in order to make Syria stronger after the war
Nice pix of Roman ruins. Not sure where the ISUS pix come from, I guess they can no longer release a video. The explosions always look like very large fireballs EVERY TIME they hit a tank, this does not always happen in real life (only in the movies with special effects). What is the weapon being fired by SAA soldier that throws out the cartridge?
The fireballs may be the ATGM blast being directed away from the tank by sections of reactive armor going off.
Good point, but the fireballs are still way too large. I notice that Daesh can not provide a picture of a burning tank. It looks fake to me.
ATGMs hits, but defeated by ERA. If the tanks were destroyed, the foat-guckers would show a follow up pic of the burning hulk and its column of black smoke.
Looks like T-62M to me (and we know those are depolyed in Palmyra area). Those does not have ERA.
Videos are usually authentic (except the cut from launcher to target view, where they mix them as convenient). Also, if the vehicle is undamaged the video ends right after hit. That forward throwing launcher is pretty intriguing. My guess is that it’s an RPO, similar to the one in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIf-yU3C-OU
Perhaps these ISIS reinforcements are the units they’ve withdrawn from the north and west?
RUAF and SyAAF should be bombing the shit outta them, driving in the open desert!
Daesh is finished, now for the SAA to send them to the history books.
Well said my friend!
You would think so, but ISIS is and always has been the US and Israel, and all they will be doing now is to reform, regroup, and be relabeled as another US backed fraud….
And we cannot overlook the US/NATO/Jordanian build up of forces in northern Jordan that will be used to invade southern Syria… This war for Syria’s freedom is far from over…
Relabeled , you got it . Some have been redeployed to Yemen and Libya , but most will find a new passport , and become FSA , with a brand new gun , but the same Wahhabi attitude .
YEA YEA YEA GO FOR SUKHNAH!!!
The Syrians near Palmyra threaten a captured airfield, like they did in Eastern Aleppo, perhaps it was a plan to threaten tactically valuable points to stretch the US head-chopping, heart-eating rapers; if so it’s working. I was wrong about the Syrians planning a spectacular at the Idlib pocket so perhaps it will be a dash for Deir Azor or a faster advance south from Aleppo province. The rumours of a concentration of US head-chopping, heart-eating rapers in Jordan with their USuk puppet masters are multiplying so watch this space.
Linking Syrian and Iraqi forces will begin at tanf border crossing. Both sides will benefit from that. The Jordanian backed rebels there now will find it next to impossible to fortify.
