For the first time since the late 2012, the Syrian forces have come closer then 6km to the besieged Kuweires Military Airport. It’s located in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside and sieged by ISIS militants.
This is a first major result of the full-scale offensive in the Deir Hafer Plains started under the rule of Iranian Army’s Revolutionary Guard Command Brigadier General Hossein Hamadani (IRGC). Unfortunately, he was (killed yesterday.
Officially, the main unit leading this operation is the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) “Cheetah Forces”. Nonetheless, servicemen of IRGC are taking part in this operation.
Yesterday, the SAA and IRGC supported by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Russian Air Forces liberated the strategic town of Jabboul (6km from the Kuweires Military Airport).
The intense clashes against ISIS militants have been continuing.
With the capture of Jabboul athe Syrian Armed Forces take position in only three villages away from the Kuweires Military Airport. At the moment it’s approximately 6.2km from their frontline.
Much of their success belong to the Russian Air Forces and servicemen of IRGC.
