Pro-government forces, led by Syrian army and Hezbollah units, have launched an advance in order to capture the Abu Khashbah area in the eastern Damascus desert.
Government troops have advanced in the area south of Ar-Ruhba in order to close encircle the area controlled by US-backed militants south of the al-Seen military airbase. This desert area is not fully controlled by US-backed forces. However, it cannot be secured while the army and its allies are not in control of Abu Khashbah.
If government troops liberate the Abu Khashbah area and clear the militant pocket west of it, they will significantly shorten the frontline in southeastern Syria and make another important step in isolation of the US-held garrisons at the border with Iraq.
Yes, this will shorten front line and push FSA away from Damascus. After the packet will be clear the SAA should push East along the Jordanian borders and for time being stop 55 km from the AL TANF military base
Well clearing isolated pockets has been far from automatic in this war. A bunch of them are persisting for years already. I guess it depends on the terrain and the disposition of the local population (of which I guess there isn’t much in this desert area) plus maybe some other factors I’m overlooking.

fuck off bitch
No need to go after al tanf at this time, but it will be smart to remove the rebel pocket in order to reduce the threat to damascus country side. The FSA have shown capability and willingness to use this pocket to launch artillery attack on SAA air bases, in some cases damaging equipment. There is a risk of this territory being used to launch an attack on damascus itself. Thus it is vital to secure it and to reduce the front area to make reinforcement available for the fight against ISIS. Once the rebels are surrounded (maybe 5km to go), They will be forced into a series of short but large firefights with the various militias, as they begin to run low on ammo, there will be a full attack. Maybe 200-300 jihadists in the area.
Where are tigers now? We are waiting for big “jump” … Go on tigers….!!!!!!!!!
The Tigers are currently having a more than deserved break with their families. They will continue the fight soon.
They are neither taking a break nore can they be everywhere at the same time. They are currently preparing for a new offensive in Eastern Homs to clear Central Syria, if I am not mistaken. Anyways, tthey are not needed in that Southern part where the SAA and paramilitary groups have a ridiculous 10:1 advantage vs US-backed militants
Preparing for a new offensive is a break compared with actually being on the offensive, Lyn, so Sam’s right. They will continue the fight soon.
always when witch PZIJV put here jumping tiger picture, he curses tiger forces for 1 week.

Once this pocket is cleared the Druze region will not be threatened on its east. Druze NDF militia will no longer feel under siege and maybe will finally press forward to their west. That will greatly aid the SAA in Deraa.
SAA Constantly preparing for a push. Constantly, and SouthFronf is Constantly Reminding us of that. Thank you SouthFront. But unfortunately, it’s being weeks now, if not months and it never happened.
The problem is Salamiyah CS..what is happening there? Some sources say that Russian aircraft target friendlies…!!?? And also rumors are and it is obvious that someone don’t want full liberation of Salamiyah CS…strange….
Very nice yes keep killing off the us backed trash and slowly force US to withdraw from all tanf and the other base. But above all priority number one for SAA in this area is protecting their king/queen (Damascus) IT CANNOT FALL!!!
