Just a few hours ahead of the announcement of the Russian-Turkish “memorandum of understanding” on the situation in northeastern Syria, the Syrian Army completed deployment along the Aleppo-Hasakah highway on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
According to Syria’s SANA news agency, the Syrian Army entered the villages of al-Kozaleya, Shwaish, al-Nufaliyeh, al-Mahal, al-Badran, al-Hizam, Kahfet al-Marati and al-Dubaib northwest of Hasakah. By this move, government forces cut off the last possible direction of the Turkish offensive further inside into Syria.
Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring will be limited by the area between Tell Abyad, Ras al-Ayn and the Aleppo-Hasakah highway.

It may be a misquote, article goes on to state villages northwest of Hasakah. Still waiting for news of Turk forces pulling back from highway M4.
Now it’s time to create and recruit pro government militias.

Let us be honest here for a moment. The Turks advance below the aforementioned road has been stopped because Vladimir told Erdogan how much he can go south, east and west, along the strip that the Turks initially wanted to carve out for themselves and not because of the ” brave SAA’. All SAA did is to occupy the positions assigned to them by Vlad.

US had no choice – their position was unsustainable – few thousand special forces and CIA operatives occupying north-east Syria, were in direct path of incoming Turkish militant proxies with full Turkish air support. If US forces stayed, they would have been in crossfire – resulting in massive US-NATO member vs Turkey-NATO member rupture. This was major threat to NATO unity – a decade of Pentagon and State Department’s own hubris and short term policy decisions put themselves in this completely ridiculous predicament.
Russia announced in 2015 it would not sit idle and watch their long term regional client Syria be subjected to the ‘Libyan model’ – ie, the aggressive destruction and dismemberment of a nation state by NATO and Gulf States – a process NATO euphemistically refers to as their ‘humanitarian interventions’. Russia has simply halted, rolled back and and is now winding up the NATO-Gulf State attempt to implement the ‘Libyan model’ in Syria. Russia set themselves a straight forward, transparent, strategic task, and have executed it with remarkable efficiency and success.
