Syrian Army Continues Its Operations Against ISIS In Al-Safa

Illustrative image

The SAA advanced deep inside the heavily fortified area of al-Safa, north of the governorate of al-Suwayda, and captured several new positions in the framework of its military operation against ISIS in the Damascus desert, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on September 21.

According to the state-run agency, warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the SAA artillery supported the operation against ISIS and struck several positions and fortifications of the terrorist group in the heart of al-Safa. As a result, many terrorists were killed and injured.

A day earlier, ISIS claimed in an infographic, released by its newspaper al-Nab’a, that its fighters killed more than 500 soldiers and officers of the SAA while repelling “dozens” of attacks on their positions in the Damascus desert, mainly in al-Safa.

Local observers said that the SAA’s operation against ISIS in the Damascus desert is facing great difficulties. Some of these difficulties are the rough terrain in the volcanic region and the inability to use heavy fire power in order to ensure the safety of around 30 civilian hostages, who were abducted by the terrorist group more than a month ago.

500 soldiers deads for this cancer. How many ISIS animals are deads?

Tudor Miron

500? Believing ISIS claims doesn’t serve you any good.

Jens Holm

We know none of the losses from both sides. You also have to give from when to when and where those losses are from.

As below like Tudor Miron, You cant rely anything he says about it. Its like some cheep football fan having not the slightest idea, but still insist in ISIS claims does not serve You any good.

So believe as You wish. I only know they kill each other well. Numbers ??? No, I hope for numbers. ISIS also dont mention own losses for themselves….

Thank you Jens.

Methodical destruction of the Orcs continues. They can’t flee. They are starving and their emaciated bodies prove it. Keep tightening the noose around their necks until the last rat is exterminated.

They are advancing and advancing, progress and more progress, and advancing on the position they started from?

Jens Holm

I agree. To much bad rhetoric. Much SAA advancing also is with the head iner an arm or gone. Advancing also say open for counterattack.

Most reinforcements are replacements as well.

But some writers here has learned at least some. I saw again and again, that reaching high ground was a victory or almost every time. They now finally know, that ISIS fight and hide well in flat low ground by camoulflage, digging, using fog, rain and sandstorms well.

I don’t believe the 500 dead silliness, but why in the hell is this taking so long? They had an easier time with Palmyra than with this bullshit.

Bill Wilson

It’s a desolate region where everything looks the same so every ISIS position hidden in the rocks is hard to detect. The SAA’s tracked and wheeled vehicles can’t travel for long over those rough hard rocks before the tracks and tires start suffering damage so the soldiers have to seek out the ISIS positions on foot. That’s a lousy assignment since there’s no natural cover for concealment when ISIS fires on them, other than laying down and stacking rocks in front of themselves. I imagine that the SAA is being slow and cautious to avoid casualties and equipment losses.
