The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) continued operations against terrorists in northern Latakia engaging Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) militants in a series of intense clashes.
The government forces attacked militants at the Haddadeh Hill in the Kurdish mountains and reportedly take control of the area. Pro-government sources argue that the loyalists are now advancing deeper in the militant-controlled territory.
The ongoing advance is pursuing the goal to close the gap between the government forces positions and the Syrian-Turkish border. If this is done, it will allow the Syrian army and the NDF to cut the militant-controlled areas of Latakia off from the rest of the country.
