The Jeish al-Nasr’s positions on the western side of the Ithriya-Khanasser road were counter-attacked by the Syrian Army and its popular allies. As result, 56 terrorists were killed, while the surviving militants were forced to retreat from a military base in southeastern Aleppo.

The Jeish al-Nasr terrorists failed to prevail over the government forces’ strongholds along the key road, connecting Hama and Aleppo provinces. A strong defense and counter-attacks of the Syrian government forces made the militants to retreat from the battlefield, and allowed the Syrian Army troops to recapture a military base of Mahmiyat al-Ghazlan and kill 56 members of the Jeish al-Nasr.

According to the Fars news agency, citing unnamed military sources, now, the strategic Ithriya-Khanasser road is under the full control of the Syrian Army.

On August 12, the Syrian Armed Forces repelled another Jeish al-Nasr’s offensive, targeted to break through the government forces’ positions along the key supply route. The purpose of the offensive on the army positions near Mahmiyat al-Ghazlan in the west of the Ithriya-Khanasser road was an ambition to cut off the government’s supply route to the city of Aleppo. However, the terrorists’ attacks were reflected by the Syrian Army and its popular allies. The Jeish al-Nasr retreated from the battlefield, leaving dozens of the dead and wounded members behind.
