In a new violation of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement, Jaysh al-Izza shelled residential areas in the towns of Mahardah and Salhab along with a nearby power plant in the government-held part of the northern Hama countryside on February 16.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that the army had responded to these attacks by striking the radical group’s positions in the towns of al-Lataminah and Kafr Zita.
“The strikes destroyed artillery positions, rocket launchers and fortified posts of the terrorists,” the SANA’s reporter in Hama said.
During the last 24 hours, Jaysh al-Izza and its two main allies, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), stepped up their attacks on the residential areas in northern Hama and southeastern Idlib.
Earlier, a military source told Sputnik that the SAA is preparing to launch a military operation within the demilitarized zone in order to put an end to these attacks on civilians. However, these claims are yet to be confirmed.
Job well done. Now is the time to begin the Military Operation to suppress these cockroaches permanently
