On February 3, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) struck several positions, including a large ammo depot, of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the southern Idlib countryside after receiving “accurate intelligence information,” according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
“The al-Nusra Front group [now known as HTS] was storing weapons and military equipment in the town of Sfuhen near Jabal Zawiya in the southern Idlib countryside. Army units carried out several artillery strikes destroying the positons of the terrorist group,” the SANA’s reporter said.
Later, the SAA destroyed several military vehicles of HTS in the outskirt of the town of Hbit in the opposition-held part of the northern Hama countryside.
These artillery strikes were a response to recent violations of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement. Radical groups, like HTS, are not allowed to move or deploy any heavy weapons within the zone.
The SAA stepped up its military operations around the demilitarized zone recently. However, radical militants are still violating the agreement, while Turkey is as usual turning a blind eye.
well done SAA
Don’t worry I’m sure your “ally” Erdogan will just ship them some more ammo.
Very economical way to fight.
The SAA is getting better and more professional in combined arms ops, they are now digging in their 122 mm BM-21 Grad rocket launchers. The model pictured above is a newer Russian version and the supporting protective infantry is good field practice. Hopefully, they will use similar dug in protection for their often attacked Pantsir S1 SAM systems, so that the Zionist scum pay a price. If officered professionally, the SAA can become as lethal and combat effective as the legendary Hezbollah.
