On April 25, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Palestinian Liberation Army (PLA) and other pro-government factions continued their military operation against ISIS south of the Syrian capital of Damascus advancing in the al-Madaniyah area of the al-Asali district, according to pro-government sources.

Meanwhile, a source in the SAA told SouthFront that a dust storm has forced the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the Russian Aerospace Forces to halt their aerial operations against the besieged ISIS fighters south of Damascus. The storm will delay the SAA advance and will give ISIS a temporary advantage, according to the source.

From its side, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters had killed more than 16 SAA soldiers during clashes south of Damascus on April 25. Amaq added that three battle tanks of the SAA had also been damaged with rocket-propelled grenades.

Local observers believe that the SAA will be able to break most of the ISIS defensives before the end of April, especially that the Tigers Forces are set to join the military operation against the terrorist organization in the upcoming days.

When will the SAA ever learn to “attack” by fake tanks, so that the terrorists waste ammunition a lot? Especially at night and during sand storms that should be an effective tactic.

@Inc2Get

They have dug tunnels so ammunition isn’t a problem for them. In a couple of days, the tiger forces will arrive to the front line and the real battle will begin.

stfnen

ATGM are expensive, so it should be a problem if they waste it for their financers. Also any shoots at fake tanks would warn the SAA were it is dangerous to go with real tanks and troops. And last not least the more terrorists shoot the more they reveal their hideouts.

Rob

This is good idea. SAA should also use fake air defence radars, fake missiles, fake howetzers, field guns, fake combat vehicles etc with fake tanks.

Toni Liu

Yep that kind trick already proven by allies when fighting nazis in WW2 before D day invasion

stfnen

In urban warfare tanks that can only move very slow due to steel armoring that is so thick that it can not be penetrated by ATGMs might be best. That would convince terrorists that their weapons are useless.

Rob

ISIS should laydown weapons. They don’t know that the probability of their winning is nil. Fighting for ISIS there is absolutely suicide. They should live for their small kids and families.

Icarus Tanović

They’ll be death sentenced.

Icarus Tanović

They can Napalm them, so they’ll suffocate down in the tunnels. No chance they escape, man.

Attrition47

If you will the ends, explain how to provide the means.

Remember the news comes from the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq – take their propaganda BS with a pinch of salt at least.

gustavo

Yes, it looks like that without Russia aerospace force, SAA is useless to coordinate and make fast advance.

Rob

Where are Tiger forces?

@Inc2Get

Couple of days away from deployment. a small portion consisting of perhaps 50 or so tiger forces already traveled there but has not yet been activated.

Rob

Thanks.

Wut,that really expensive to create and mantain special force in that number especially for syria right now, better make them grow in appropriate number but invest more in transportation that make them able to move this force fast around syria when time needed, more like US air cavalery in vietnam war

Vitex

The Syrian strategy is sound. Wait. Encircle. Probe. Soften up with artillery. Snipe. Especially when you know there are foreign intelligence specialists amongst the “ISIS” soldiers, you wouldn’t be in a hurry to waste precious manpower.
