On December 8, an armed drone bombed positions of the National Front for Liberation (NFL) in the town of al-Hakurah in the northwestern Hama countryside injuring three fighters of the Turkish-backed group, according to the Syrian news outlet Enab Baladi.
The pro-opposition outlet claimed that the armed drone took off from the Russian Hmeimim airbase in the western governorate of Lattakia. However, experts believe that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out the attack with a mini drone, which had been modified to carry and drop small-diameter projectiles.
The drone attack was likely a response to an attempt by the militants to infiltrate into the town of al-Suqaylabiyah, which had occurred few hours earlier. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the SAA foiled the attempt after killed and injuring many militants.
Recently, the SAA began responding to the militants’ repeated violations of the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement with advanced weapons, such as anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). This new policy is clearly aimed at forcing them to respect the fragile agreement.
Hmeimim is a Syrian air base used by Russian !!!
