On January 7, two militants were killed and several others were injured when the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shelled the northwestern region of Greater Idlib.
The army launched a barrage of rockets at militants’ positions and gatherings in the town of al-Fatterah in the southern countryside of Idlib in the morning.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, one of the slain militants was a member of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, which controls much of Greater Idlib. The second militant was also fighting for an al-Qaeda-linked faction, Ansar al-Tawhid.
The rocket strike was likely a response to the militants’ repeated violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey on March 5 of last year.
Greater Idlib militants violate the ceasefire almost on a daily basis. SAA positions are being shelled and service members are getting targeted with sniper rifles and guided missiles.
The Turkish military, which maintains a large force in Greater Idlib, has been doing almost nothing whatsoever to stop these violations and implement the March 5 agreement. This may soon lead to a new military escalation in the region.
Good job SAA ;) :D
had been better if it had been a dozen or so jews from palestine.
Condolences to the fallen wahabimossad and CIAisis operators. May they rest in pieces…
Soon it will be 1 year since the March 5th agreement, 1 whole year of Erdoganistan not honoring it’s part of the deal.
All the opposition media outlets say HTS is not located here, they say there are only moderate opposition NFL ‘soldiers’ [terrorists] in this area, so who’s getting it wrong, the opposition media or the pro Russian media, one of them is lying. And since the article also claims HTS is affiliated with Al Qaeda which is nothing but a out and out lie, I have to assume SF lied about the first claim too. A simple google search pertaining to HTS’s relations to Al Qaeda will show they aren’t affiliated to Al Qaeda at all, except for a few shaky alliances with groups like the TIP, that help ensure Turkish military assistance if it’s ever needed, HTS actually arrests and kills more Al Qaeda fighters/agents in Syria than any other party bar none, so they should be calling them enemies, not saying they’re affiliated. The truth is HTS is subversively dismantling Al Qaeda and trying to change their political direction, HTS arrest and kills many of Al Qaeda leaders/commanders that oppose HTS’s new political direction, but HTS supports those Al Qaeda Leaders/commanders who agree to change their tactics and stop fighting. So technically ST isn’t lying just by saying “HTS is affiliated to Al Qaeda”, but it becomes a lie when they fail to add all the other necessary info that lets you understand the true meaning of what affiliated actually means in this case, and it doesn’t mean they’re friends, just reluctant associates occasionally, and most of the time bitter enemies. Affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated, affiliated. I have to add that word to my research list and find out if it has a different meaning in Persian and Russian, Moderate opposition, Ceasefire, Territorial integrity, and now Affiliated.
So, two roaches down? wouldnt call it a staggering success unless they were the breeders
