Syrian Army Foils Another Infiltration Attempt In Northern Hama

On October 5, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled another infiltration attempt by militants in the northern Hama countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

In details, a unit of Jaysh al-Izza, a key ally of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), was trying to reach several positions of the SAA around the villages of Maarkaba and Lahaya in order to launch attacks. However, a reconnaissance unit of the SAA detected the militants and clashed with them forcing the unit to withdraw.

The SAA foiled a similar infiltration attempt a day earlier. In response, SAA artillery and rocket forces struck several positions of the militants in the northern and northwestern Hama countryside.

These hostile acts by Jaysh al-Izza, HTS and other radical groups pose a serious threat to the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement on the governorate of Idlib. Under the agreement, the opposition-held areas in northern Hama are considered a demilitarized zone and the militants are not allowed to launch any attacks.
