Syrian Army Foils Attack By Turkistan Militants In Northern Hama

On October 7, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) detected and targeted a unit of the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), which was sneaking towards its positions in the villages of Tal Wassit and al-Mansoura in the al-Ghab Plains, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

“The [SAA] strikes foiled the infiltration after killing and wounding many terrorists, while the rest fled towards the areas they came from,” the SANA’s reporter in Hama said.

A day earlier, militants of Jaysh al-Izza attempted to launch an attack on several positions of the SAA around the villages of Maarkaba and Lahaya in the northern Hama countryside. However, a reconnaissance unit of the SAA detected the militants and clashed with them.

The northern Hama countryside witnessed several militants attacks in the last few weeks. These attacks pose a serious threat to the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement on the governorate of Idlib, which was reached last month.

It was a bad deal for SAA from the beginning. Some tried to spin it but we all see how it played out…
