Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, Jaysh Al-‘Izza and other moderate oppositioneers made a push on government forces positions near Ma’an and Tell Bizam in northern Hama on November 23.
The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) were able to repel the initial attack by militants but fighting in the area continued. If Fatah al-Sham was able to capture Tell Bizam, the militants got a tactical advantage in case of a full-scale advance on Ma’an. However, they failed to do this.
On November 24, the army and the NDF made launched a counter offensive in the area west of Ma’an. The Syratel Hill (Tell Syratel) and the village of Al-Dhahrat Al-‘Aliyah are the main targets of this operation.
Clashes are ongoing in the area.
