The Syrian Armed Forces have gone on the alert in the province of Homs after receiving intelligence reports, indicated a massive build-up of the IS forces in regions of the province.
After the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group launched a first round of assaults in order to seize government-controlled regions of the province of Homs, in particular, the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), the Syrian Army has gone on the alert in the province, the Fars news agency reported, citing an unnamed battlefield source.
According to the source, after several intelligence reports from Russian military advisors that reported a massive build-up of the IS forces along the International Highway, Syrian troops have started to guard the areas near Palmyra.
On Wednesday, Moscow announced that on Tuesday, the Russian Aerospace Forces targeted and hit a group of terrorists, who were preparing to attack Palmyra city, located in Homs province. As result, about 250 terrorists were killed and 15 their vehicles were destroyed.
“Yesterday, the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted airstrikes to the North of Palmyra where a group of Daesh [IS] terrorists were preparing offensive on the city,” First Deputy Chief of the General Staff’s Main Operational Department, Viktor Poznikhir said, speaking at a news briefing at the Defense Ministry.
As the General noted, the airstrikes killed some 250 terrorists and destroyed about 15 their vehicles, equipped with large-caliber machine guns.
Vey desperat ISIS. The terrain is not for infantery in big groups. Airplanes will kill too many of them as written in the article.
Wont give ISIS any ideas, but thats a classical bad one.
The terrorists always miscalculate ,the Russian air force and Syrian air forces will panelized them in attempt to capture the city of Palmyra, but Russia and needs to work hard and push terrorists out of Syria definitely. Now they need to attack their capital Raqqa and kill all terrorists who seizing the city for almost two years and terrorised the population without escape routes. Syria needs to redirect the focus on Raqqa and dislodge the terrorists from Syria land.
