The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, has captured the Sfaiyeh gas field and the Sfaiyeh crossroad in the province of Raqqa. Now, pro-government forces are deployed only in 20 km from the strategic Tabaqa military airport.
The Tabaqa military airport has a strategic location that allows to control a major part of the communication lines, heading to the ISIS self-proclaimed capital of Raqqa. If the airport is liberated and secured, the Syrian government will be also able to deploy helicopter gunships there in order to use them in future advances in the province.
