A tough battle is underway in the vicinity of Arak oilfield in the eastern part of Homs, where the Syrian army intensifies its attacks on the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

The IS terrorists in the surrounding areas of Arak oilfield in the eastern part of Homs province were hit hard by the Syrian Army’s troops. A large number of the gatherings of the terrorists and their military vehicles were destroyed by the army.

At the same time, the terrorists’ military positions in the town of al-Sukhneh and the town of al-Tayebeh in eastern Homs were targeted by the Syrian fighter aircraft. On August 15, the military positions of the IS in the eastern part of Homs province were precisely pounded by the Syrian fighter jets.

Dozens of the terrorists were killed, when Syrian airstrikes targeted a convoy of vehicles of the IS terrorists near the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in the eastern part of Homs.

According to battlefield sources, airstrikes on the gathering centers of the IS terrorists in al-Sukhneh and also on al-Sukhneh-Palmyra axis in eastern Homs were also carried out by the Syrian Air Force.

On August 14, the IS offensives in eastern Homs were repelled by the Syrian Army. As result, scores of the terrorists were killed and wounded. The Syrian army troops fended off IS offensives from Rahoum and Unq al-Hawa on government forces’ strongholds in Jubb al-Jarreh and Maksar al-Hassaan, killing and wounding dozens of the terrorists, as well as damaging a large volume of IS ammunition.
